Hello from IL. Would like your advice!

Welcome from NC. An older smith or any quality revolver usually trumps the newer wiz bang version imo provided the bore is good, timing is good and it has a correct lockup. Good hunting,

    Petrified Wood Project

Phenix, my thoughts also. But still pretty cool. To the op, maybe get your artistic smith to add a solid steel base not as large but copying the general outline of the stone top. Would make it sturdier.

The most rusted stainless steel gun I have ever seen in person - a PSA!

My ss Ruger Vaqueros rusted under the horn grips where they were in a safe that unfortunately was on my screened porch. Had desiccant in the safe. I assume it was the moisture being trapped in the buffalo horn along with the humidity. Rest of the guns were fine.

Got hit with the Dawn dish soap scam

Not all guys who show up are scammers out to get you. After hurricane Irene in 2011 my yard was a total wreck. Trees down, power ripped off the house, broke limbs everywhere. A foot of water in the house before it blew by and the water was gone. Two guys pull up and ask if I could use help. I...

Gun Sales Fall Under 1 Million Per Month for 1st Time in Six Years

Agree. There is a bottom to the well. If you have a job keep it and save all you can. Cut back. Leave the cc’s alone. Play with the toys you already have.

    Lever action assault rifles

Instead of blue steel and walnut how about brass, blue steel and walnut. It will accept a bayonet and sling but no picatiny.

THE BEST 22LR RIFLE I HAVE EVER SHOT IN MY LIFE!

My tale of favorite .22 rifles would start with a beat up Winchester 67 [my first], then become a salty Browning T-Bolt. I could cut reeds with it in my youth when it had my 3x9 Redfield TV screen scope on it. But since my retirement I have these two favorites, a Winchester PreA Model 52 and his...

    Shooting new 610 mountain gun

Never liked dot sights, prefer to paint or nail polish the front sight. I did go with hi-viz for my 625 that I was using for combat shoots. Black on black sights are hard to pick up fast.

Favorite 38 spl self defense load

Been using Hornady Critical Defense in my .38 spcl Jframe and Hornady Critical Defense in my .380 Mustang. Don’t know if one brand is better than another but they both have a polymer insert and when I hunted I had success with nosler ballistic tip bullets. They were lethal on deer.

Hi from eastern NC. A fine forum here. Pull up a chair and sit a while.

    Your least favorite S&W revolver

I tightened up my cylinder in a 617-10 by getting a better fitting cylinder stop if that's what you are referring to. But I can’t understand how wadcutters would affect your lockup. The 638 does have an aluminum frame so I guess a whole lot of aggressive double action cylinder rotation could...

    Your least favorite S&W revolver

^^^Agree with you. Why I installed a smooth target trigger on my 617-10 rebuild. Much more comfortable and easier to pull than what was in it.

    Old time TV guns

In the tv series Annie Oakley with Gail Davis she carried a pair of DA Police Positives with ejector rod housings hung on the barrels. DAs are always faster than a SA shooting duelist. Always thought she was a cute gal.

What Are Your Favorite Jeans for Pocket Carry?

Moved away from jeans to 5.11 tacticals. I find the front leg pocket a good fit for my ltwt Mustang in a pocket holster.

    Your least favorite S&W revolver

Never seen a Smith Mustardvolver before. Yeah, you don’t want a red J Frame. You might accidentally shoot your weiner.

    Your least favorite S&W revolver

It had a clear finish over the aluminum that wore away and looked terrible so I had it cerokoted Marine Corp red. Been edc’ing my Colt Mustang so the Jframe has been a safe queen since I had it done. Second time.

    Your least favorite S&W revolver

My least favorite S&W wannabe S&W is a Italian ASM .45 Schofield. Love the beautiful top break design, love the .45colt caliber, feels good to shoot but hate the crazy weird trigger. Any pressure on the trigger locks up the hammer so you can’t cock it. I mean the lightest of touch. If you are...
