    N frame target grips

Just bought a set of non relieved N frame diamond target grips that have a number stamped on the inside of them. The number is 130370. The grips have silver medallions and the number is stamped on the upper part of the right grip panel near the stock circle insert. It is stamped in 2 rows of...

Question on Grip Screw, 4th Model Straight Line

Whenever I take mine to the indoor range. It never fails that one of the range officers will tell me to remove the magazine before I leave the firing line so all shooters can advance forward to change their targets. Our indoor range is somewhat primitive, no automated target trollies.

Were you law enforcement in the 70’s-80’s? What did you carry?

I started out as a reserve officer in 1970. We had to furnish our own weapons. Only revolver I had was an old S&W 357, 6 1/2" barrel. Later when I got hired full time by a small town PD I had to buy a semi auto. We were the first PD in Oregon to require all officers to carry a 9MM semi...

    617 8 3/8"

My vote is for the latter, not the former. I've got a 617 long tube. Great shooter, really like it, but not to the extent I would pay anything near those asking prices for one.

    Model 10 Cincinnati Police Dept

This is exactly the stamping that is on the revolver the seller has for sale. Nice to know what PD it's really associated with.

    Model 10 Cincinnati Police Dept

There is a local seller who wants to sell his Cincinnati PD Model 10, SB, 2" barrel. There is a photo of a stamping on the left frame, just above and to the right of the trigger. This photo shows a circle, looks to be about 3/8" diameter with CPD stamped within the circle. I have no idea if...

Unertl target scope serial number information

Recently traded for a Unertl 20X Target Scope. It's in beautiful condition, complete with recoil spring, end caps. Fine cross hairs., etc. No flaws in the finish. The serial number is 21571. Is there anyway of pinpointing the manufacture date or getting a close approximation of that date...

    Model 29-3

These were made from 1983 to 1991. Didn't sell too well. S&W was late to the game as far as silhouette shooters were concerned. They all had 10 5/8" barrels. That adjustable front sight could also be ordered on other Model 29's. I've handled a couple of 29's with 6" barrels that had them...

    ID Help

I remember Honeyman Hardware quite well. They were a long time. very well respected hardware store in downtown Portland. I can remember going there in the 60's to pick up materials for my fathers business. The building is still standing, build in 1912, 2 story brick. Brings back a lot of...

    Cataract Surgery Question

I had this exact surgery done in 2019. Cost me $100 per eye. Dome about 4 months apart. I know have 20/20 in both eyes, for distance. I go to the dollar store and buy a few pair of "cheaters" for reading, close up work etc. They last about 6 months or so before I break them but no big deal...

    Fourth model straight line target

What a beautiful gun. I've got one that shipped 5-1-29, S# 1132. It went to a hardware store and they were billed whopping $20.85 Mine is not as nice as yours but it has the same kind of box and interior. They are a lot of fun to shoot. When I take mine to the range I routinely get reminded...

    .38-44 Heavy Duty

These transitional were made 1946 to 1950. Serial number range is S62496 to S75206 So even though S75415 is a bit out of the range it may still be a transitional model. Those grips look like sharp shoulder and would have been on late production Transitionals. They started in 1948 and...

    Factory refinish

Factory Refinish As long as you know you will not get the same blue color or anything close to it or quality workmanship that was originally applied to your revolver, a factory refinish will be ok. There are a couple of firms that can do a much better job, at a higher price of course.
