My brother got hired in 1982 on a PD in a wealthy suburb of Chicago. First weapon was a S&W 19-3, followed by a S&W 59 9mm, then a Beretta 96 .40cal. I inherited these upon his passing 3 years ago. His last weapon was a 1911, but he was getting ready to retire, so he didn't keep that one.
When...
I bought a 13-3, 4"barrel, back in 1982. My brother was a LEO and I got it brand new for police price of $180.00. This gun now belongs to my wife, and she is a very good shooter. We go shooting together every week.
Inherited a 19-3, 4" barrel. This was my brother's first duty weapon. I want to put on rubber grips, but can't find any. Could someone point me in the right direction?
Inherited a 59 after my brother passed away. This was one of his duty weapons. It will not feed or eject aluminum or steel rounds smoothly, but brass rounds shoot great. Is this a common trait? My 2 Springfields shoot them with no problems.
Inherited a Model 59 from my brother, a retired LEO. He passed away last year. Does it have a loaded chamber indicator. S&W is sending me a user manual in the next two weeks.
New to me Model 59
Earlier this year I acquired three duty weapons that belonged to my brother. He passed away December 2021 and I took possession in July of this year.
1. S&W Model 19-3
2. S&W Model 59
3. Beretta 96F 40cal S&W
I have not fired any of these yet but hope to get to the outdoor...
Original Wood Grips
Thank you, members, for your suggestions. They do have wear but are still in fairly good shape. I will get some Renaissance for them.
I just acquired a 19-3 with original wood grips. This was my brother's first duty gun in 1982. What is the best way to take care of and preserve the grips?
Thank you.

Jeffrefrig: You mentioned a Beretta 92S. I will be acquiring a Beretta 96F next month. This was one of my brother's duty weapons. He passed away Dec. 2021 and I will get his 3 duty weapons. Anything to look for on the 96? I never owned a Beretta before.
Thank you to everyone that responded to my post. Just to be on the safe side, I have decided to do an FFL-to-FFL transfer. This will cost some dollars, but in the long run, it will be hassle free to get the guns from Illinois to Arizona.
I will be acquiring 5 handguns in May from my brother. He passed away in Dec., 2021. He was a LEO for 30 years. I read the airline requirements as far as being in a locked container to be in checked in baggage. All the instructions seem to be easy to follow.
Has anyone else here flown with...
Beretta 96
The Beretta 96F was one of my brother's duty weapons. His first was a S&W 19-3. He passed away 12/26/2021. I will be aquiring these in 2 months. They have great sentimental value to me.
Received answer from S&W.

Thank you everyone for your responses and help.
