    **SOLD** F/S: S&W Model 659

To folks requesting photos, my computer tech person (the Mrs.) advises that she can get pics sent more easily to a phone number, rather than email. I'm at her mercy. :o Thanks to all, Jeff D.

    **SOLD** F/S: S&W Model 659

***SOLD*** Model 659, 9mm. Adjustable sights (with protective 'wings'), hooked triggerguard. Abi safety. Very clean inside/out. Finish on slide is near mint. A few light scratches on frame in area of take-down lever, could be easily removed with Scotch-Brite pad. Rest of frame is near mint...

    Finish Challenged 586-1

By all means, GET IT! My personal 586 4" was my duty gun back in the early to mid 80's, until our township solicitor demanded that we carry Dept.-owned weapons. That was when we switched to semi-autos, HK P7-M8's.

    Flawless never fired 85' 439

It is a beauty. I agree with SVT28, the combination of fixed sight and squared trigger guard is DA' BOMB! Wish my 659 was configured like that.

    Even More 2nd Generation Goodness

Very nice! I'm planning to take my recently acquired 659 on its first trip to the range tomorrow. I gave it a thorough cleaning and lube, replaced the recoil spring, and added a set of Pachmayer wrap-around grips.

    First Duty Automatic

My first duty auto was an HK P7M8. The members of our small, rural Dept. (all five of us!) carried our own weapons prior to being issued the HK's. I carried a S&W 586, others carried S&W model 19's, a model 66, and one guy carried his 4" Python. Under the advice of the twp. solicitor, we were...

    10 round magazines for 559, 669, 4006

Yeah, I'd steer clear of ProMag. My 659 came with one, and it will not drop from the gun when I hit the mag release. No such problems with the S&W mag. It's more than a little disconcerting how Smith turns their backs on owners of their older (and better!) handguns. They can keep their...

    Hang Onto Your 2nd Gens!!

Alrighty then, lets call the model 39 the "'63 split-window coupe" of S&W semi autos!:D

    Hang Onto Your 2nd Gens!!

Are we saying that 2nd Gens are the "vintage Vettes" of S&W semi autos? I'll go along with that.

    Model 659 parts question

They're all three decades old now, parts are scarce and getting scarcer. I've bought a Wolff spring kit for mine, as well as a spare barrel bushing, and getting a firing pin. What other spare parts would you suggest squirreling away in the interest of keeping her running for the foreseeable...

    659 information

Oh man, that 659 is in nice condition. Great find!

    Another 2nd Gen rescue/restoration

VERY nice indeed! I acquired a 659 in a trade recently. It's my time machine, taking me back to the 1980's, when I lusted for one, but couldn't afford it. The Glock 19 isn't going to be seeing much range time for the foreseeable future.;)

Found another shotgun, Ithaca 66 Supersingle

My Dad took me to the local hardware store on my 10th birthday ('67), and bought one for me in .410. You never forget your first shotgun!

    Model 659 Recoil Spring Question

Thanks for the advice, hardluk1. I did, indeed, buy the service pack from Wolff. The 659 is in great shape, but is 30+ years old, so I'm gradually going to accumulate a supply of spare parts "just in case". Also bought a new barrel bushing for it. One further recoil spring question: will the...

    Model 659 Recoil Spring Question

I recently acquired a M659 in a trade. Not knowing the round count, I'd like to replace the recoil spring before I take it to the range. Any suggestions on what "weight" Wolffspring I should purchase would be much appreciated. I don't plan on firing any +P ammo. Would standard factory spec...

Model 586 6" No Dash - Fell In My Lap!

Some beautiful 586's there. A 4" model went through the police academy with me in 1983, and was my duty gun for two years until my PD switched to bottom feeders (H&K P7-M8). I felt just as well protected with the wheelgun and two speed loaders on my belt!

    New Guy From South Jersey

Just joined this forum, but I've been a S&W fan for 40 years. My first centerfire handgun was a Model 59 - heck, it was the sidearm of Detective Dave Starsky from tv's "Starsky & Hutch", so I had to own one!:D When I became a police officer in 1983, I carried my own model 586 4" revolver in a...
