I have two (2) Pro Mags I use along with the S&W factory mag for my Model 908. They have all had hundreds of rounds through them with no issues at all. DVC

Best gun to start with would be a 4" K .22(Model 18) and lots of ammo. Learn sight picture/trigger control. Move up to the .38spl/.357 when ready. DVC

Any .38 spl is easier to shoot accurately, and get quick follow up shots without blowing the shooters ear drums out in a confined area.
