    Giles wagon wheel rear sight

They are designed for finger adjustment, no tools needed. It's really ingenious! Way back when Giles sights were on the BE gun spec sheet at the Camp Perry matches. That recognition was an honor. Thank my buddy AJ for the heads up!

    Giles wagon wheel rear sight

Stu the left wheel appears to be the type three with a roll pin. You need to remove the pin. You may want to do this work inside a baggie to save the pin. It is SMALL. When done unscrew the wheel from the right side. This should free the rear sight blade that is notched in the elevation wheel...

    Giles wagon wheel rear sight

Aj thanks! Stu, There are 3 versions of the Giles site and each has a different answer. I need a close up of the LHS windage knob. It might be screwed at the center or pinned at its circumference. This is the part that needs to be taken off first! Let me know!

    Letter request turnaround time?

On 6/17/25 I ordered up a letter for a Triple Lock that i knew went to the Bits in 1914. I received the letter confirming it today, 7/18/25. Thanks Don

3.5” 27-2 (but what are these stocks?)

It seems to me that you will shoot the pistol a lot. If the current grips are comfortable to you get a set of targets. If not, and too big get the magnas. If needed you can add a Tyler adapter to make up the difference.

Jim Cirillo and his Model 10

I was NYPD from 1973 until 1975 when a bunch of us got laid off. One guy in my Pct had a brother in the Stake Out unit and knew Jim. Not returning to NYPD I went Fed and ran into him at FLETC in Georgia in the mid 80’s. I was attending advanced training, particularly at the range where Jim...

The new scams are here! The new scams are here!

I don’t know if this will help anyone but the house landline has a super long message. At the so called end, it goes on to repeat it again. Most, and probably all scammers hang up. Drs. Rx messages etc usually are robo call so we get those messages. If we are curious we look and if its a...

    Nelson Ford on YouTube

I stumbled across about a dozen videos recenlty posted by Nelson Ford on YouTube. They go into really good detail on the history, working and gun smithing of Colt 1911’s, S&W “K”. And “J” frames. No BS at all and pretty thorough. All worth watching and if you do your own work you should be...

Let’s see your Ithaca, Colt, Remington Rand or USS&S WWII 1911a1

I can’t say I have ever saw a Colt or Keyes USGI grip ever shrink.

    27-9 Classic flame cutting, etc.

A buddy of mine was showing me the S&W CS 629 he just picked up Thursday. Nice revolver BUT I pointed out the same short screws holding the sight to the frame, the posts here highlight. Same marks on the stainless cylinder. Don’t think he was too happy …. but this thread proved useful.

    2025 Annual Meeting

My wife and I are thinking about attending the annual meeting for a few days this June in Concord. I am a SWCA member and heard that it is necessary to register beforehand to attend. I am not an avid S&W collector but I do enjoy the big bores and older revolvers. Is it worth the trip? My...

    S&W 10-6 3” Barrel

I am assuming it did! As said I knew the owner and he was a LEO who owned quite a few guns but none had any signs of extensive customization or gun smithing. He passed and I was asked to sell his firearms, which I did at a local auction. I need to get a letter on this. BTW I got gigged by...

    S&W 10-6 3” Barrel

I learned that the 10-6 I now own was shipped to Faber Bros in Chicago in Nov 1969. He must have bought that gun at least 10 years before I knew him. Didn’t think it was that early.

    S&W 10-6 3” Barrel

I’m almost positive it is as delivered from S&W. I knew the original owner and the agency we worked for had an armorer that would among other things enhance sights. He probably did the trigger. I had a Model 13 that he installed night sights into inserting a capsule in the front site and rear...

    S&W 10-6 3” Barrel

I just shot it today with .38 +P loads and it is a joy to shoot. All in the black at 25 yards, double staging the DA is smooth. The SA breaks under 3#s and shoots like a target pistol. Happy I got it! Even more happy that I don’t have to do anything to it.

    S&W 10-6 3” Barrel

Here are a few more pics of the barrel. I do not think the barrel has been cut. The front sight appears to have been milled and the inset painted yellow. As said the action has been worked on. I am not a S&W guy but buy interesting guns. I am not up on factory markings so one pic is a shot...

    S&W 10-6 3” Barrel

I picked this up knowing it was a look alike to the Model 13. It was owned by a Federal Agent and its obvious the action has been worked on as it is butter smooth. I cannot find a lot of information regarding the Model 10, with a 3” barrel and round butt. Some forum posts tie them into the...

    Model 25 question

Well I asked Roy! His reply was “ Ken. Model 25-5 serial AJE1115 was shipped in October 1985. I hope that this helps Roy Hairtrigger you were right in the ballpark. I also got pics of the gun. It does not have a pinned barrel. It retains a nice blue finish and no signs of holster wear. It...
