Mine was a 1006. I was entranced by the magazine ads, and found a used one that had been fired "once" according to the seller. I still have some of the Norma ammunition that came with it.
+1 for the Magpul stock; with a full magazine stored in it, balance is a lot better. I agree it's not an exceptional firearm, but it is reliable, fairly accurate, and fun to shoot. Since I own a Glock, the magazine interchangeability was a major selling point. mtgianni, I assume you meant 4 inch...
Just making a final update. I tried using vinegar, but that only washed out some of the leakage, and the C cell held fast. Tried whacking the flashlight with a hard rubber mallet, but that just popped the LED loose. I also tried heating the tube to 150 F with a heat gun, but no luck.
At...
Excellent advice all around! I've been guilty of neglecting my EDC before, until I noticed lint everywhere. Fortunately no rust, but it pays to do regular maintenance.
I just received a Wright holster for my 4006TSW with Streamlight TLR-8 AG. Excellent work, as usual, and I like how they can still accommodate some of the 3rd gen pistols. I wanted the light since this is just a range & house sidearm.
Depending on the steel, a good welder should be able to TIG it back together, maybe. I've also heard of micro-welding; a search for that term should turn up leads, although it might not make financial sense.
It also looks like Triple K makes magazines for an H&R 25 ACP (...
Wow, I seem to have hit a nerve/gold mine! Thanks to all for the advice and possible solutions; all much appreciated. Yes, I've had Duracells corrode in the package too, but I apparently used these because they were all I had, I suppose. Big mistake.
I've tried to remove the light head, but...
Anyone have any hints on removing corroded alkaline batteries from an aluminum flashlight? I have a Streamlight Twin Task 3C that I've used as a shop flashlight for a few years. When it quit working, I went to replace the batteries, only to find they had leaked (not naming any names, but they...
I'm guessing these weren't used primers ;-). Yep, I don't need any more, but would have bought just more on principal. Glad so see some prices reverting to "normal".
Speaking from a data base of one ( I have one of the CHP SIM 4006TSWs), current accessories sort of fit. Mine sports a Surefire TLR-8, but it took some "adjusting" to get it right. The edges of the rail, and the slot on mine were OK, but the bottom of the rail had a convex curve to it that...
LOL, our trap club does sort of the same thing, though just one shot for the top gun at the end of the season, with an H&R Topper that has seen much better days. Interesting to see people cringe when they learn they have to shoot it.
I have a Thompson-Center Renegade in 50 cal, and a Cabela's 1860 .44. Like to shoot them both, used to deer hunt with the T/C. Big fun, but you can't be in a hurry! I'd like to find a flintlock one of these days, just 'cause.
I could see buying a new M1 to reduce wear and tear on my original CMP ones, if it were decent quality. Not that I shoot the originals that much any more, but parts are getting a bit pricey, and I don't see any sources like the Danish ones on the horizon.
I remember seeing the Max Headroom segment of some show in the '80s (?), and thinking this will get out of control some day. It took longer than I thought.
There's always New Hampshire, though it's too close to MA. I'm of the same frame of mind, and have been considering southern MO, WV, eastern KY, and TN. Some of it depends on your definition of "mountains" . Good luck finding a place.
I read that; what a great story. It makes me wonder if solutions like that will be harder the higher tech we get, or id uct tape will be around forever. .
