    Old gun scopes

Along with my interest in a lot of old S&W firearms, I also collect old 1800's single shot rifles, and old target scopes too. A number of old Ballard scheutzen rifles I've purchased over the decades had nice old target scopes on them already, and I found myself looking for more whenever I was...

Does anyone shoot anything other than 9mm?

Nobody knows what I was shooting when I leave the range because I reload and I pick up all my brass, plus anyone else's that they didn't pickup or missed. I shoot a huge variety of different pistol and rifle cartridges, and most of my rifle cartridges are obsolete, so I treat hat brass like it...

The story of the .38/44 revolvers...

Wonderful article on the history of these .38/44 S&W revolvers! They've been a favorite of mine for many decades! Mine is a 1953 vintage I inherited from the son of the original owner. It was ordered new with an extra cylinder and barrel I was told because the original owner thought he'd shoot...

    Replacing an old friend

Well if it was stolen I wouldn't share the serial number with anyone, and wouldn't even have posted the gun here at all. So I think the question should have never been asked. I assumed whatever "database" he mentioned was accessible to anyone, and no need to post it here also?

    Replacing an old friend

Why would you even ask this? Just what makes you think it's a stolen firearm?

    Replacing an old friend

I have three rifles and this makes three pistols all in .32-20 chamber. One Remington Hepburn, another #2 Rolling Block, and a Ballard #2 Deluxe rifle. My other two handguns are both SAA models; one Colt and one Uberti.

    Replacing an old friend

Not sure since I didn't mention what I paid for it.

    Replacing an old friend

Years ago I had a S&W .32-20 Hand Ejector that wasn't a high condition collectible, but I loved the cartridge and the way it shot. I sold it thinking someday I'd replace it, but never came across one locally. Last weekend at a gun show I came across a 4th variation from the mid 1920's at a gun...

    New format.

Once I switched to darker format in my "preferences" it's better and more like the old format. One thing I do like better is it fits my screen better now without having to scroll sideways as before to read threads.

    Costco Emergency Food Bucket

We went through a number of outages without a generator, but generally our outages were a few minutes to a few hours. Then one summer we had crazy hot weather that we'd never seen before at 115-116 degrees for days, and power went out for a couple days! Soon after my wife told me we needed a...

    Costco Emergency Food Bucket

We've always been prepared, but not for an apocalypse. We simply make sure we've got supplies of various foods and water that could hold us for a couple weeks if we ever had an extended power outage, or a storm that kept us at home. We also have a 9500 watt generator that runs on dual fuel gas...

    What Would You Do?

Seeing the whole gun now I'm even more inclined to fix the crown and then leave it alone. I'm sure if the engraving were all restored the engraving would look great. But then do you stop there, or restore the whole gun? In my opinion I'd stop at fixing the crown. I think it's a lovely old...

    What Would You Do?

I'd prefer an original barrel length, but if properly crowned a shortened barrel isn't a deal breaker for me. I'd give it a proper crown, and touch up the redone crown and be happy with it.

    Income Tax Time*****

I used to do our taxes every year, and always got extremely frustrated trying to make sure I got it right. It was something I avoided until maybe a week from the deadline, and then just forged through irritated about doing it. One day my wife asked why don't you just take everything to a tax...

Won't be shopping at Cabela's anymore.

Ours is still Cabelas, and no sign of any changes. I don't buy much there, but have a Cabelas credit card, so pay it off each month and accumulate points. Then use the points usually to buy ammo. I used to buy used guns there as the Gun Library had a great selection. But something changed...

    Wax On - Wax Off

I've used Minn Wax Paste for decades and it's still being made. Just like Johnson's and works great on metal and wood both. I rub it on with a small rag, and then buff with a soft cloth. In between I wipe my guns with Old West Snake Oil on metal and stocks before putting them away. It too...
