Small Pistol Primers on sale at Scheels

They’ve been more scarce than common sense in this crazy world of ours.

Yes indeed. As they say: When they’re cheap stack’em deep.

Small Pistol Primers on sale at Scheels

I stopped in the Johnstown, CO Scheels this morning to see if they had any small pistol primers (spp). They had Federal spp for $70/1,000 and the thinking that was a good price I picked up two bricks. When I checked-out I found out they were on sale for an additional $10.50 per brick so I got...

Electric auto measure and extruded powder

If I get an electronic scale I'm leaning toward the Hornady Auto Charge Pro, but only if I decide to load more extruded powder. Until then I'm thinking HP-38 powder and my manual Redding measure will work just fine. Take care all and thank you for your great replies!

Electric auto measure and extruded powder

I don't know the model number but it is the most basic powder measure that Redding offers. I bought it probably 15 years ago and use the pistol chamber.

I use a baffle as well, but per your drawing I may have it up too high. Thanks for the information!

Electric auto measure and extruded powder

I load for 38 Special and 357 Magnum maybe 50 to 100 rounds at a time, fwiw.

Electric auto measure and extruded powder

Sorry for the confusion; my Redding is a standard NON-electric measure. I’m thinking maybe I should get an auto measure. Thank you.

Electric auto measure and extruded powder

Hello, Do electronic auto powder measures work well with extruded powders such as N320 and N340? I’m having a heck of a time getting consistent results with my Redding powder measure. It works quite well on other powders that I have such as HP-38, Win 244, Sport Pistol etc. but not on the...

    Metering issue with N320

You are correct. I looked at their website and came to the very same conclusion. 👍

    Metering issue with N320

Barkbark, Thanks for the feedback (feedbark? Lol!). As much as I load I may take a look at a Dillon power measure. Peace.

    Metering issue with N320

I have recently discovered N320 powder and really enjoy shooting it. However, I am less pleased loading it using my Redding powder measure. I’ve seen comments where it “meters like water”. I wish it did but In my powder measure each throw is bit of a grind. Some more, some less. My results...

    N320

I use and like HP-38, Win244, Sport Pistol etc for 38 Special primarily but recently tried some N320 and have been greatly impressed by it for range work. Accurate and gentle recoil. I will buy some more. I shoot through two model 66-8s, both 2.75” and 4.125”. I load coated 158 grain SWC from...

    Dirty Model 66-8

    Dirty Model 66-8

Thanks for the replies. The problem isn’t the finish as my other 66-8 has the same finish and I use the same ammo but it doesn’t have this problem.

    Dirty Model 66-8

I just got a new 4” 66-8 revolver and put around thirty rounds through it and it is dirtier than my 617 22lr after a hundred rounds. I don’t mind cleaning guns, in fact I’m a bit obsessed about it, but this seems way over the line. I have another 66-8 with 2.75” barrel and it shoots relatively...

    Loose ejector rod

Mystery solved: it was a cap for a needle oiler.

    Loose ejector rod

Update: I was never able to satisfactorily keep the extractor rod tightened so I sent it in to Smith and Wesson for repair. I got it back this week and took it out for a range session and shot a mix of 38 Special and 357 Magnum rounds and the rod stayed tight. So far, so good.
