Tell me about your M&P 5.7

I have been wanting a 5.7 for a while, specifically the two tone as I think it looks the coolest. Found one at a LGS and I'm marinating on it.... Tell me about yours. Do you love it? Do the mags break in so eventually you don't "need" the mag loader? How many rounds do you have through yours...

New 686+ wont engage cylinder stop?

Yes you are correct, the cylinder does not advance enough to where the cylinder stop engages.

New 686+ wont engage cylinder stop?

If I pull the hammer back very slowly, when I get to this particular chamber maybe every other time I can get the hammer cocked without the cylinder stop engaging. I was planning to use this for hunting so I'm slightly concerned that this is a possibility, because that's a situation where I may...

New 686+ wont engage cylinder stop?

It is brand new, so that is my thought. I just hate to have to send in new products because their service is pretty great, but I probably won't see it again until next year.

New 686+ wont engage cylinder stop?

Hey All, Maybe this thread is a little ironic considering my last one was on questions regarding the timing on modern S&W revolvers. Anyway, I just acquired the new 686+ that I had been hunting for and its great, I love it, so smooth, very accurate... I noticed however that on one or two of...

How easy is it to shoot a S&W revolver out of time?

You know I’ve actually heard that as well, at least once before Any ideas why?

How easy is it to shoot a S&W revolver out of time?

I'm not disagreeing with your comments on ammo. However two points should be noted: 1. Shot placement of course trumps all, but most off the shelf hunting loads, which is what I use, tends to be loaded on the hotter side. I have found a 158gr "big bore" Winchester loads that I can shoot well...

Sobering Issue with P365XL (Update Post 19)

FWIW, while the triggers aren't quite as nice, the Hellcats from Springfield sure are sweet. I shot one yesterday, and it shot VERY well, I managed 5 round groups into about 2-3" offhand at 10 yards, which is about as good as I can do with just about everything else.

How easy is it to shoot a S&W revolver out of time?

Thanks for the insight. The purpose of the revolver I am interested in would be ideally for things like ringing gongs at 50+yards, and taking deer within that range (in my state, where I hunt, we must use straight walled cartridge). With this, I'd probably be using loads in the Northern...

    The humble J frame

My rule when it comes to CC has always been to carry as much firepower as you comfortably can.* Depending on your mood, attire, etc. "comfortably" might range between a full size Beretta, 1911, etc. down to a small poly semi. I define firepower as sum of ft-lbs of energy loaded in the...

    The humble J frame

Which semi-auto's did you try? Yesterday at a local range I rented a standard Springfield Hellcat, and when taking my time I was able to put 5 rounds within about 2 inches at 10 yards. The thing is so small I can't imagine someone not being able to find a comfortable way to carry it. Also holds...

How easy is it to shoot a S&W revolver out of time?

Hi everyone, Yesterday at an LGS range I rented a 686+ 5" 357 and boy did it shoot pretty sweet and I think I've come to the conclusion that I must have one. This is all coming purely from curiosity. It seems that, just based on things I've read and heard over many years that with enough...

    S&W Recut My Forcing Cone??

They definitely oversized it, compare the size of this one to the previous photo (ignoring the previous photos rifling). They also adjusted the yoke and replaced the cylinder. The play in lock up is now nearly non existent, and the B/C gap is less than .005, which is the smallest my feeler gauge...

    S&W Recut My Forcing Cone??

Yeah this was with the original 460 I bought. The one I’m having problems with now is the replacement. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    S&W Recut My Forcing Cone??

S&W Recut My Forcing Cone?? This is a good point. The only reason I am concerned is I’ve had experiences with sending something in for repair and it returns with the original problem fixed and new problems it never had before. Also, I have the 7.5” model which I believe is not a...

    S&W Recut My Forcing Cone??

No curve in the bore. If you look closely at the end of the bore, you can see the cylinder chamber not aligned with the barrel. There is a moon sliver shape on the right side. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    S&W Recut My Forcing Cone??

Hi folks, I sent in my (replacement) 460 for a timing issue. Photo below shows the cylinder not aligning with the barrel. Today I got notified it’s on its way home so I called to see what they did to it, replaced cylinder, some timing components, but they also recut the forcing cone...

Can’t hit squat with my 460

Hello folks. Went to sight in my 460 yesterday (7.5” PC) and was having trouble putting up good groups. I shouldn’t say I couldn’t hit squat, but I sent 50 rds down the pipe and my best groups were maybe 5” at 25 yds, and this was from a rest. I’m betting it’s most likely user error, trying...
