    What to do?????

I had a sight for a 1911 once with a brass bead and not near as bright as the true gold bead but was "ok" on a bright day.

.44 special brass dimensions and custom expander design....

There may be enough on an M die expander mandrel that a machine shop could turn it to the dimensions you want and reform the bell. They may chamber OK but extraction problems may result especially with heavy loads as you are, in a sense, un-sizing the case. If you have a drill press, are handy...

    What to do?????

Yes, appears they no longer sell just the bead. You would have to purchase the complete blade with bead installed if the height would be correct for your gun which is what I did for my 66.

    What to do?????

I put a SDM gold bead on my 66-8 a few years back and it has been great. http://www.sdmfabricating.com/Gold%20Bead.htm

    SCSW 5 Edition-poor binding?

Yes, the print quality is not up to prior editions. Appears to have been done on a digital press with lower resolution files. The binding appears to be ok on my copy.

    Not exactly Smithing: Maintaining Stainless

I level them out with 400 grit paper and if that suits me , and it often does, I leave it at that. Next level would be use a chamois. Buy a good one, saturate it with water and let it dry till stiff. Work it in your hands a few minutes to soften it up (I never wet them again) and then rub the...

    Priming Tool Recommendations

Yet another vote for the RCBS bench tool. Don't know how many cases have been primed on mine over the years but it has been many, many thousands and the tool shows no appreciable signs of ware.

A short post with over 50 years experience with phosphor bronze cleaning brushes

If a gun is really dirty from a long range session I will use the nylon brushes first to get the crud loosened up, patch it out and then go to the bronze brush to finish. I think it makes the final passes more effective and may add a little life to the bronze brush.

    Cloudy Bluing

I would give it a go with Renaissance Pre-Lim and a really soft cloth (old style diaper) well buffed. Then Renaissance wax to finish.

To cut or not to cut that is the question

IMHO: 1. Don't know what an 8⅜ will kill that a 6 won't so find a six and have the barrel on hand that will match up should you have it lettered. 2. If you are going to have it cut can it not be set up with some type of base that could just have a blank installed till a front sight is needed? I...

    What Part Is This?

You need to locate which chambers are being "skipped" and insure the cylinder stop will fit those notches by width and depth. As others have said it appears to be a new stop and may be to wide for those particular chambers and needs dressed. It looks to have plenty of protrusion above the frame...

    2 piece barrels

After looking at the drawing of the install tool I don't believe it will work as a removal tool unless you can find a way to "reverse lock it". Some kind of jam nut or interference sleeve. Midwest Gun supplies did have shrouds for sale at one time but never saw a barrel.

Overpressure signs in a Model 66-3 with starting load data

Agree with rwsmith and stansdds on this. Manufactures have the ability to do "closed bomb" testing on powder lots. This allows them to "blend" for given performance levels. What comes to us for handloading must be very close to same/same year in and year out. This is also controlled by the...
