    My First 1917, a Shooter

Good looking shooter. I really enjoy the 1917 and its second model hand eject cousin. This one served the Canadian Army, then the Nothwest mounted patrol. At some point it was reamed to 45 colt cut to 4" and nickel plated. Still a great shooter and a ton of fun with cowboy loads.

I really enjoy this 4 inch in 45lc. Based on help from the forum and its serial number. It was a Canadian second model hand eject in 455 eley made around 1918 originally.

For those age 60 or under (Gen X or later generations…)

I'm 48 and started collecting when I was really young. Military/LE and hunting family. I had already owned a .22 rifle, BB gun, 20ga, and 30-06 by age 12. I had been using the .22 and BB guns on my own since about 8 or 9 with permission of course. The 20ga and 30-06 got hauled out and used for...

    Confiscated Firearms

Afternoon Sarge, In my case they are mine by chain of custody and possession. My state has no crazy transfer requirements. A sweet old lady who sat across from grandpa for 58 years. Gave me the code to the gun cabinet, told me where to look around the house. Then she said "You should take all...

    Confiscated Firearms

There are a few places online that will sell directly to credentialed LE/Military members active and retired. Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore online regularly has police trade-in guns.

    Confiscated Firearms

My all time favorite is CA state senator Kevin De Leon. "This is a ghost gun. This right here has the ability with a 30-caliber clip to disperse with 30 bullets within half a second. 30 magazine clip within half a second,” he said.

    Hoppe's No. 9 is not a CLP

I was told by a few old timers at the VFW. The GIs actually did use olive oil during the Sicily/Palermo campaign. So to confirm I asked pop. He was in North Africa, Italy, and the Buldge. Plus a NY state trooper for 20 something years. I forgot the exact wording it was many years ago. The bulk...

    reloaders estate

I hear that I joined late 90s. We shot tons of old ammo during training. Even in Iraq those old boxes of 50 cal showed up. Our ADA guys where using Avengers like gun-trucks. Some of them had a hell of a time keeping that AN/M3 running.

    reloaders estate

The army was still using that ammo when I was there. I fired plenty of linked 7.62 between 11/03~2/05. Had a can of LC71 once, worked just fine. I joked telling the guys my dad, your grandpa, and our first sergeant should have burned this up on Charlie.

If it will go back together, cycle it a few times, then let the slide drop, that should reset the trigger. Then try to dry fire to confirm reset.

Need help choosing good 1st Revolver for a beginner..

I'll give a +1 to the M10 heavy barrel. Extremely versatile home defense, camping, fishing, hunting. You can load everything from snake shot to cowboy or full power 38s. Like buffalo bore +p outdoors. A 158grn Keith @1250fps puts out about 545ft lbs. If you do your part those 6 slugs should...

    Short Barrel Shotgun

Beautiful 235. I also have a Western Field 520-30 but it's from the 40s. Is your early style Western Field "Browning" marked? It was only done 1933-1937 and some latter Ranger models are marked "Browning Patent" or "Browning Design" on Sears guns.

    Short Barrel Shotgun

Small world Mr. Rosenthal. I'm from Orange County. My grandparents lived in Goshen and Pop worked out of troop F. Still can't believe how many people don't know NY state is 80% farmland.

    Short Barrel Shotgun

It is a 520A. Nice double hump, Sears was the Ranger line iirc. Those are New England Westinghouse made. Earlier models are marked J Stevens Arms and Tool 1909 to 1916. Westinghouse changed the name to J Stevens Arms Company in 1916. They used the Chicopee Falls Mass plant to make them. That...

    Short Barrel Shotgun

I use Fed power-shok #1 buck 1-1/8oz. It's 12, 30cal.pellets at 1250fps purple hulls. They pattern the best with this Cyl.Bore barrel. I have 65cal musket ball slugs too, that will stack up shots at 30yrds. I love these old Browning designs. I actually never thought, that I would see this one...

    Short Barrel Shotgun

This old Stevens 16ga take down model with factory 20" tube. Stamped P and Cyl.Bore. Has been on house duty for decades. Starting out in my grandparent's house after WWII. Then it moved to an uncle's house in the 70s. When he had a nasty divorced mid 90s it went to live with my dad. Then when...

    J Frame Grips

I keep a lot of stuff in my front pockets. Including a M60 in an uncle Mike's no.3. I've tried many different styles of grip over the years. Then I found these Herrett's Shooting Aces at show and took a gamble. I'll never look back they are terrific for a larger hand.

    Mags for M -1 carbine

Thank you for all the info. The best M-1carbine I've ever seen was an Inland. It was a lend/lease Bavarian game warden marked. Re-imported in the 60s it had a faint Interarms roll mark under the front sight.
