    TISAS ?

As good as any M1911A1 I was issued (USGI stock and match) and those were good enough. My USAF match pistol was made by Remington during WWII and was 10 years older than I was at the time it was issued to me. My Tisas is as reliable as it was.

So… is the Beretta M9 still the Worst?

It does. They respond to the market too. Why we have Gen 2-5 with 6 on the way. The market wanted rails for lights and ambi controls. Now it wants field strip w/o a trigger pull and more "modularity". Glock will give it to them eventually. While they are still Numero Uno they have lost big...

So… is the Beretta M9 still the Worst?

Some in the military have a way of getting what they want even after the govt gives them what they think they should have. We went M9 in 1985. Then some went SIG P226. Then we bought M11s (P228) in 1992. Some bought HKs in 45. Some bought Glocks in 40/45/9. AFOSI went G19/26 after the rest of...

So… is the Beretta M9 still the Worst?

BTW, while the use of the M18 is "paused", there are still M9s (and Bianchi, Blackhawk, and Safariland rigs for them) still around and some are still qualified to carry them on duty some places. I saw a TSgt with one on base (Kirtland) after the accident at F.E. Warren.

So… is the Beretta M9 still the Worst?

If we had gone S&W in 1985 we would have been fine. If we had gone S&W in 2017 we would have been fine...

So… is the Beretta M9 still the Worst?

The govt paid about $180 for the M9 in 1985. They paid about $200 for the M17/18 in 2017. Not bad considering inflation since then (would be about $400 now). The holsters for the M17/18 cost more now than then though. The Bianchi UMH was about $100 MSRP, the Safariland rig is over $450.

So… is the Beretta M9 still the Worst?

SrA Andy Brown did fine with his Beretta M9. Stopped a nut with an SKS who was shooting up the base hospital. Four shots at 70 yards across the parking lot. Two hits, head and shoulder. Not bad for a bicycle cop.

So… is the Beretta M9 still the Worst?

I was issued the M15 (S&W), M1911A1 (a USAF match pistol. Mine was a Remington and older than I was at the time), M9 (Beretta), and M11 (SIG). They all worked fine. I preferred the M11 of that bunch. I prefer my S&W and Canik to all of them and the current M17/18. The Canik is the choice of the...

Were you law enforcement in the 70’s-80’s? What did you carry?

I started out with a civilian guard company in the 70s, went to the Federal Protective Service, and ended up in the USAF. Worked with the FBI, DEA, INS, BP, and US Marshals from time to time. I was issued S&W, Colt, and Ruger revolvers, the M1911A1, Beretta M9 pistols in the 70s and 80s. Mid to...

    Brother Gun and Sister Steel.

My M&P 2.0 pistols and knives. The DOE/OST (Office of Secure Transport/nuclear material guards) used the M&P 45 for a time. An administrator for the NNSA trying one on the range in 2020. Now they use Zev 9s. The city and state police here (Albuquerque, NM) use the M&P.

    SIG P320 Discharges?

If the M18 was an aircraft with this kind of record it would have been grounded long ago. If guns were under the regulation of the CPSC the P320 would have been recalled long ago. Wait! There's more: "In April 2022, a senior Airman on Tinker Air Force base in Oklahoma told investigators that...

    SIG P320 Discharges?

I'm sooo old I was issued one of these (USAF match pistol). Mine was made by Remington and was older than I was at the time. They could go off if dropped just right with a round in the chamber.

    SIG P320 Discharges?

The thumb safety keeps the trigger from moving, it does not block the striker from moving. The Army carries on safe, the USAF only uses the safety when loading/unloading at the clearing barrel, carries off safe. The Army did have a UID when an M17 on safe in the holster was bumped and it went...

    SIG P320 Discharges?

They are still around. The last new M9s were delivered to DOD in 2021, four years safter the M17/18 contract in 2017. When the M18 was paused by the USAF last week, there was an E-6 armed with an M9 on the local base. So, some are still around, and some are still qualified to carry them. But it...
