    Hammer Bobbing...opinions, please.

What’s your vector, victor? It’s a rotating mass, the math is beyond me. I’m not getting how you distinguish energy from momentum, which is….energy.

    Hammer Bobbing...opinions, please.

Great post Bob. I’m actually looking at this exact question from a lock-time perspective, really curious about the legendary SA hammer/ trigger combo. Totally agree about the energy numbers.

Cup Tip Punches for S&W Revolvers

I made my own after bending several on a particularly difficult job. If someone would like to try them out for the cost of materials and shipping, DM me. Not sure what the mods think about this. I made a starter punch and a long punch for finishing the job.

I’m guilty, but only with the springs out. Great points: Don’t do it Don’t mention it

    Looking for guidance, diagnosis, recommendations

I’d be very careful about polishing the forcing cone on your own. The angle is important, as is the centering of the cone on the bore. You might make a bad problem worse. If this got noticeably worse during a match, I’d look for something that went south and affected timing. Ratchet damage...

How to bring revolver shooters back to IPSC?

Just saying, the single stack guys had the same complaints. It's all about stage design that forces reloads in place.

HomeSmith Custom Shop: The Faux Pinto Thread

I made these to deal with a serious bubba problem that had bent several commercial & DIY punches. The starter punch is a game changer.

HomeSmith Custom Shop: The Faux Pinto Thread

Great write-up on matching barrels. The more I goof around with this the less mystifying it is. I would add one thing for the folks in the back row - take a really good look at the mating surfaces on the frame and the barrel. I had a take-off that was gritty and galling bad. It would thread...

HomeSmith Custom Shop: The Faux Pinto Thread

I'm in the same boat but find an N frame donor ain't easy. It would make a very unusual Pinto. Performance Center version!

Looks like I have a Problem. Need help.

As an aspiring shade tree gunsmith I’d say you made the right call. That pin is under a lot of pressure, the pin must be pressed in to a very precisely drilled hole.

Well it was bound to happen. Payed to much for a .32-20 with no cylinder stop

You are the man. It’s in jail, I’ll let you know when it is in hand.

Well it was bound to happen. Payed to much for a .32-20 with no cylinder stop

It’s a 5-digit serial number .32-20. What are the odds a more modern version will fit?

    Best S&W Gunsmith for timing?

Ok good info. You might be chasing your tail though. It’s pretty common to find this if you look for it. Cock it firmly AKA fast so the mass of the cylinder helps it make the last little bit. Check the cylinder stop- is it engaged but just not fully seated? Get a range rod I’m a shade tree...

    Best S&W Gunsmith for timing?

Since this is new to you, I have to ask - how are you evaluating timing? Is it really based on just one video? How do they shoot? Shaving lead/copper? Any other signs? Do you normally shoot double action or do you cock the trigger? (It matters)
