    Secret service preventive maintenance guide.

I thought it was cool too. Side question. Were the SS revolvers ever sold to the public and if so are they marked?

    Secret service preventive maintenance guide.

This is something I came across and just wanted to share. I don’t remember where I got it, but had it for over a decade. Anyone shed some light on it. Looks to be an academy hand out, I suspect.

What was your first Smith and Wesson??

My first S&W was my first pistol I bought. a sigma series 9F in 1999 for $300 if I remember correctly. Trigger sucked and wouldn’t chamber hollow points until the feed ramp was polished. Guy at the gun shop talked me into it and out of the Glock 17 I wanted. He threw in 100 rds of the dirtiest...

    Frustrated with sellers on GB

On GB, do wonder sometimes if some the bidders are from this forum.

    Frustrated with sellers on GB

I have asked questions several times and here are responses I usually get. 1. I am not home and will send you the info/pic when I get home. -I never get the follow-up 2. It’s in the listing. - if it was I wouldn’t ask 3. No response at all I don’t bid with the above responses. Now...

    Pennsylvania State Police 19-4

One of those just sold on the big auction site for $1225. ETA: I thought it was a little too high. I would have went $800-900

    How to value "collectibles?"

That being said, if you're not taking plastic I think you're likely to lose multiple interested parties just because they want the convenience or they don't actually have the ability to pay with certified funds or a personal check for the closing price. This definitely true with some of the...

New to the Site. Please Help Identify

I honestly didn’t think of that. I know modern firearms that defacing a serial number will land you a 10 year vacation. Just thought that it was before the mandate and that it would have been a non issue. I never really researched older firearms until fairly recently. Learn something new everyday.

Serial numbers were not mandatory prior to 1968. This was made well before that. What would the legality issue be?

What gun are you on the lookout for?

As for S&W revolvers. I have everything pretty much covered, snub nose J frames, 3”/4” K&L frames, N frames and x frames. But I am a sucker for engraved, presentation and LE marked guns. I would like to pick up a Kolar O/U for trap someday.

A "S&W hand gun dating sticky" I'd like to see that is prominently posted and easy to use - please!

3rd addition for free. The 3rd edition is online for free. I use this frequently when I am out and about and don’t have access to my books. I still like to have the paper versions. Some as catalogs. Not a fan of online books & catalogs.

    Sold/Withdrawn WTB- S&W 10 from NYSDOCS w DC tag

Looking for a model 10 that was used by NYS Dept of Corrections. These were surplus quite a few years ago and I foolishly passed on them. These had a “DC” tag with numbers on the left side of the frame. I have an incomplete list of the numbers so might be able to know which facility it came...

    Reblued?

Could also be from someone not using the correct screwdriver. Seen plenty of that in dept revolvers over the years.
