Default Pistol Box

Who makes a good pistol box for Bullseye now? Was reading that Gun-Ho aren't being made anymore. Have a old model that is a wood frame, does anyone rebuild these?

Larry's Guns sells new boxes made by Ken Saunders. You can also find nice used ones on the auction sites.

My wife got me a "STRONG" box a couple years ago man its a nice box, all aluminum, roller bearings and great gun drawer, its heavy but really nice and their new ones have some even better improvements. I think they were on sale recently at one of the "SHOOTERS SUPPLY,places,Champion or the other that I cant remember the name of right now. Good Luck Bob

You might check Champions Choice or Champions Shooter Supply, if they don't have them surely they will know where to send you.

That's pretty much your choices for a new one . If you do get a Saunder's get the 12" LGI scope mount also , unless your below average height . The Strong boxes are very well made but HEAVY especially when loaded up . You might be able to find a NOS / used GunHo on Ebay . The older wooden Pachmayr boxes were made for open sighted guns . If you have scoped guns you'll have to modify / lower the shelf . Might also want to check Clark Guns & also Gil Hebard . Gil still won't have a website & often gets overlooked . Hebard's # is 309 289- 2700 . BTW I just checked Champion's Choice , Champion Shooter's Supply & Larry's Guns . New boxes run $ 195 & up .

I picked up this 4 gun range box at a gun show a few years ago for $50. It has space for ammo storage in the bottom, a gun rack and an accessory drawer. It came with the O.F. Mossberg and Sons 20X spotting scope of the same vintage. The box was made by the General Luggage Corp.

Funny that you bring this subject up. One of the guy's that I shoot bullseye with, just purchased a Strong 3 gun box. They are available from Champions Choice or Bullseye Gear. This box is made of a very nicely powder coated aluminum and is nicely thought out. If you are thinking about a new box that would last a lifetime, this may be the one. I was certainly impressed with the quality of workmanship.

I am enjoying all this talk of bullseye pistol boxes and checking out the new equipment, really brings back some memories. I recently dug my old home made case from the 70's out of the closet and cleaned her up a bit, polished the brass and aluminum and took a few pictures shown below. Wonder what the guys at the range would think if I showed up toting this. Bob

Thumbs up

<Wonder what the guys at the range would think if I showed up toting this. Bob>

The guys at my club would be all over that box with ooohs and aaahs. How many coats of varnish are on that cedar? That box is almost too nice to have sitting up on the bench. I would be cringeing every time an ejected case from the shooter on the left banged off the box. Very nice item!............Thanks for sharing!

Unless you can get Bob to sell you that wonderful box, you can't do better than the "Strong" box that others have already suggested.

FWIW "Larry" of Larry's Guns is the NRA record holder for 50 ft conventional pistol (200/200) in slowfire, timed and I think rapid fire.

Ken Saunders is a top shooter too. He shoots in Maine in both conventional and international centerfire.

Beautiful work on that pistol box BOB. Kudos. Something special about redcedar boxes. You're a skilled craftsman.

I just saw a picture recently and I can't remember where.

If you FLY. someone had a CUSTOMIZED, (the padding cutouts) thick PELICAN CASE converted to a BULLSEYE CASE,

guns, misc storage area and the Spotting Scope/Mount stores setup and opens up for use like a Bulleye case.

Well protected setup, dual lockable, and able to handle the abuse of Airline and Homeland Security personal during travel.

I have a multiple gun case from CASECRUZER, which is made from a thick pistol PELICAN CASE, a very nice and secure unit.

It's just for transport but I thought the Bullseye conversion was functional and cool too.
