Contact your local IL State Police office, and locate the closest range. If there is one close to you you can join the IL Police Assoc. as a class B member, and shoot in the state match's. It's great fun, I only regret they do not have a range close to me any longer.

I was in the same boat, wanting to get into PPC. Couldnt find any in this neck of the woods but found some ICORE shooting.

I shoot a unmodified Model 64 from duty rig (Hoyt breakfront) and use speed loaders. Times are slower then those with fancy 8 shot revolvers and moon clips, but I have more fun.

Default Michigan Matches

The Michigan Police Combat Pistol Association (MPCPA) will be running the State Championship Matches along with a NRA Regional near the end of August. Check out our website Michigan Police Combat Pistol Association for dates and the flyers. We also list local monthly matches held by local Sportsman and Pistol Clubs. Again check the web for dates and flyers. All of the clubs here allow civilian competitors and just check for proper gear, weapons and safe handling practices. On average we have 20-30 shooters at the local matches in the summer with a few more for the State and Regional Championships. Through out the summer we will get in a total of 12-16 full 1500's fired

There is also a very strong indoor match season that consists of Match 5s fired on a reduced sized target. The winter matches usually get 200 to 300 hundred shooters. Good food, with cash and prizes awarded. The biggest match last year was the Taylor Pistol Club, it had 370 shooters and gave away around 30 guns and a lot of cash... Again follow the website for more information, history, scores, pictures and shooting tips..

PPC is alive and kickin in Michigan, come on up and throw some rounds down range with us....

take care

John C. Poole
President/MPCPA

"TomBOF":

The Illinois Police Association is still overseeing the Governor’s Twenty Matches at various locations across the state.

You might be able to learn more about other local matches from the people who run these events.

And these guys are still around: The South Suburban Police Pistol League.

They are (were?) a pretty serious Bullseye League and even if that’s not what you’re looking for, they’re still coppers who shoot and who might be able to steer you to PPC or Combat events in the area that are more to your liking. In any case, they are still shooting out of Midlothian almost every month.

The NRA mentions this one:

Jun 25-25
Cedar Rapids, IA
Iowa Police Combat League
Gary Schroeder
[email protected]

Jun 26-26
Cedar Rapids, IA
Iowa Police Combat League
Gary Schroeder
[email protected]

The NRA says this is a State Tournament:

IOWA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Jul 30-30 Cedar Rapids, IA
Iowa Police Combat League
Gary Schroeder
[email protected]

The NRA says this is a Regional Tournament:

Jul 31-31 Cedar Rapids, IA
Iowa Police Combat League
Gary Schroeder
[email protected]

I used to shoot in the Wisconsin Regional but I didn’t see it listed on their site.

Hey, it’s a start

Default Rantoul and Iroquois county ppc

TomBOF-

What years did you shoot at Rantoul and Iroquois county? I shot at both locations from late 70s to early 90s (from Champaign PD).

I think Iroquois County Law Enforcement Association still has shoots but I heard IPA is not being shot there this year unless they have changed plans. IPA is still holding shoots but at fewer locations than in the past. Rantoul hasn't had ppc shoots for several years.

We used to shoot IPA at ISP District 10 (Pesotum), at Rantoul PD range and the finally at Iroquois county fair grounds . Paris PD used to have shoots as well but I have been out of the loop for a long time.
