I have started shooting my 627 Pro in Steel Challenge matches. So far, I have been using a leather holster. But I'd like to start using a polymer holster that is easier to get the gun into and out of, and to stop soiling my leather holster (after a few dozen rounds the gun is starting to soil the holster). Not looking to spend alot of money, just looking for something simple and reliable.
What would you recommend?
Thanks!

It won’t be in the price range you’re looking for but you may want to look at Comp-Tac
It’s what I use for most of my competition holsters.

Why?
They’re good, quality holsters
I can order exactly what I need as far as belt size, right or left handed, etc
They have very quick shipping
They’re adjustable. Maybe not much but enough
And they’re completion legal

I’ve tried Fobus and other cheap holsters, they aren’t very good. I’ve always ended up with Comp-Tac + the cost of a cheap holster

I concur with Fallguy above about Comp-Tac and would also suggest Blade-Tech for all the same reasons. You might as well buy a decent holster--you will likely love it but if not you will have no problem selling it for good money. Good luck!

I contacted both companies. Neither one sells a holster for my 627 Pro. Comp-Tac comes close, with a holster for the 4" M25/625. But they told me it would not fit my 8 round revolver.
Any other thoughts?
Thanks.

I also recommend blade-tech or comp-tac.

I just went to the Blade-Tech web site. On the left side "catagories" drop box click on OWB belt holsters, Then double click on belt holsters w/tek-lok. Go down to the "weapon" drop box. It allows you to choose the make and model of your gun. The 627 (up to 5") is listed. You might want to check back with blade-tech and ask why they told you it is not available.

I would also think that a kydex holster made for a standard model 27 would work. I'm certainly no expert, but I don't believe the cylinder of the 627 has a larger diameter than the standard model 27.

Andy,
I have several leather holsters. But, recently I picked up a Safariland model 567 for my 4" N frame 625 & 610 from Dillon.
It has a plastic Kydex shell with a suede leather lining.
It has tension adjusting screws so it can be adjusted for desired
fit / tension on the firearm. It also has a couple different belt angle adjustments.
I've used it a few time at local shoots and I like it.
About $45 -$50 if I remember right.

I have used Blade Tech, Side Armour and SafariLand for my N frames in USPSA and Steel Challenge competition but the absolute best I can recommend is the Double Alpha Race Master. I had a small issue when I first bought mine and Saul Kirsch, the owner in the Netherlands, answered my question and resolved the issue in less than 12 hours! First class product and service. Accept no substitutes.

I agree with 'buck45' although DAA now has a Racer holster for the N frame. Considerably less money than the Race Master. Check it out.
I like mine.

Andy,

I am thinking about getting a 627 Pro for steel challenge, but I am having a hard time finding people who have used one for that game.

How did you like the 627 for steel challenge and do you still use it? I'm stuck between 627 pro, 627 PC, and 327 TRR8.

I am a long-time competitive revolver shooter and use Bladetech holsters almost exclusively. I bought a Comp-Tac for my 929. So either company is first rate. If you expect to be in the running for first place with the big dogs, go CR Speed.

Blade Tec holster

I've got a pre lock 627 with a 5 inch barrel that fits fine in a blade tec competition holster which I intend to shoot in USPSA competition. It doesn't have a number on it, but unless my memory fails me I had looked for an N frame competition holster for a 4 inch gun and this one came up. It fits both my 610-2 Smith, as well as my vintage 627

I shot my 627 PC for Steel Challenge for years with lots of success. I shot 38 short colts in it and used the same load for my USPSA and ICORE matches. I got on the band wagon and bought a 929 to replace the 627. No need really, I just wanted the Wow factor of a new gun.

I used Blade Tec and then switched to a speed holster called Guba Ribas which was very fast. I tried the CR Speed and it's the only holster my gun ever fell out of so I gave up on it.

All the guns you are looking at will work. If you go with the TRR 327 you will find it a little light for anything but Steel Challenge. It does have faster transition times for SC so you may like it.

Good luck.

To be competitive you will still need to have a revolver smith work the trigger and will want to handload using short colt brass and federal primers. I cannot say that I have seen anyone using the pro in scsa either but have seen a bunch of PCs out there.

I use 929s for SCSA. One is set up for OSR, the other is ISR. I'm not a top shooter but quite a few of the top dogs use the 929 with it's 6.5" barrel and so if they can use it so can little ole me. Are you going to shoot OSR or ISR? Also, do you have plans to shoot either ICORE or USPSA with the same gun? You might try browsing the Brian Enos forum revolver sub forum or the Steel Challenge sub forum, I'm sure this question has been batted around already.
