Nill Grips for Bill Davis custom Model 10?
I've been admiring this particular grip for S&W K/L frame revolvers: Karl Nill GmbH
Although my modified pistol utilizes a 5.5 barrel I'm wondering if it'd fit? Or are all K-frame revolvers compatible with this grip?
Here's a pic of my revolver as it is today:
and another:
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Wow awesome! I take it that's also a .38? For some reason the hyperlink doesn't seem to take me directly to the listing of that particular grip so I'll post a pic of what version I'm looking at:
the website lists it as compatible with:
Model: K/L-Frame square butt
10 4 inch / 13 4 inch / 14 6 inch / 17 / 19 4-6 inch / 64 3-4 inch / 65 4 inch / 66 4-6 inch / 67 / 617 / 648 / 586 / 686 /...
This one appears to be meant for smaller hands, while the one on your revolver looks to be for larger hands?

Any grip made to fit a K or L frame with fit any gun that is a K or L frame as the grip frame is the same dimention on all of them. The only whammy to that is if you have a round butt or square butt frame. You can get grips made to give you a sqaure butt grip that fill in the gap on a round butt frame but they won't fit a square butt frame gun. Once you see all this it will be a duh thing to understand but until you get it you may scratch your head over all the butt talk. If you need a more hand filling grip then most custom made K/L frame grips can also be made where the wood or other material covers the backstrap of the grip frame giving a longer reach to the trigger. You can find grips that leave the bottom half of the backstrap exposed while filling in over the top half giving a sort of N frame feel to the grip.
The only part of this I'm unsure about still is the X frame seems to be nothing more than a round butt K/L frame grip. I bought the rubber X frame Hogue Monogrip from the S&W Store and it went right onto my 629-6 which should be snug at the top but the rubber material gives enough for it to fit. That grip really makes .44 magnums in the 629 into a pussycat. The gun still bucks in your hand but suddenly its bark is truely worse than its bite. The only downside is that grip only fits on a round butt frame gun.

Mac-Tec Enterprises is distributor in U.S for Nill grips.
I have a similar set on order,
about $225 plus shipping.
Most of those Custom Order Grips are available for S&W;
Open Back
Closed Back
Small, Standard, Large Hands (a web site shows hand measurement).
Round Butt
Square Butt
Different Finishes
They offer a STYLE "Like Checkering", but it IS NOT CHECKERING.
You have to INCREASE photo size to look at the actual texturing of the grips.

I was about to post something very similar and not intending to highjack this thread.
I have 2 PPC revolver (Davis and Jones), Jones tuned 14-5 and 686 and about to send my new to me 586 4" to Frank Glenn as my 686 started out as a beat up police gun.
I use in all my gun the Bill Davis Large rubber grip. while I like the grip....its too thin for my 3X hands.
I tried a pair of Bill Jordan Trooper Pacs and they felt too wide or did not put enough time behind them.
I have been toying with the idea of Nill Grips, but hate to buy a grip of that nature and they dont work out for me.
I am looking for a used pair similar to what PPC has on his gun and this set on post #23 (SW046PH)
keep us informed how they work for you.

JUST FOR CLARIFICATION. I ADORE THE NILL ON MY OPEN GUN DUE TO THE HEAVY BBL. HAVE THEM ON BOTH MY JONES BUILT REVOLVERS.THEY GIVE ME GREAT SUPPORT. BUT THEY ARE NO NEEDED ON THE LIGHTER GUNS.
HERE IS A POST FROM BILL DAVIS HIMSELF FROM ANOTHER SITE.JP
just a short note
I have located 186 pairs of Bill Davis K-L Frame grips. We
made these in our West Sacramento location in 1980. I know
that because the hardware is blued. These have been in
storage after we sold the Davis Co. They are perfect and
I will be selling at old price of 16.95 + 5.00 Priority
Mail. I know some of you have been looking for them since
Safariland discontinued them.
CALL ME AT 916-997-7675 (GOLF ON WED PM, AVAILABLE ANY OTHER TIME)

I might have to get me the bigger grip for the heavy Jones gun.
I have many pairs of the Bill Davis grips. I wished it was a tad bigger grip.
I am used to this grip.

The Nill grips shown in post #3 took just under a month, 3 weeks + a couple days to show up. They are special order.
BEAUTIFUL they are!
Now waiting for the revolver to be finished.

I have gotten better service direct from Nil than Mac-Tec. Mac-Tec only handles certain grips, and they always seem to be out of stock of what I need.

I have "long" hands and use Herretts' Jordan Troopers. Have them cut "oversize " from what they'd make based on my hand outline then shape to suit. There's a bunch of wood over the backstrap on mine.

You can not go wrong with the Nill grips. If you decide you don't like them, stick em in the classifieds for what you have in them and they will sell.....
ALSO, you can send Nill a tracing of your hand with ruler markings on the vertical and horizontal edge of the paper(to eliminate size differences when printing or on a computer screen) and they can tell you exactly what size of a particular grip you should be ordering.

Bill,
You wouldn't happen to have any competition guns left over available for sale? Preferably, a S & W, Model 10 frame, bull barrel, Aristocrat sites, like you built for me back in the 1970's? Sold mine and have regretted it ever since. I'm trying to convince Paul Keene (remember him) to sell me one of his. Thanks.
