Hi guys,

I have a 25-2 .45 ACP with 6.5 inch barrel that I'd like to use in informal IPSC, ICORE and USPSA revolver matches. I have a Bianchi 5BHL holster but it leaves the trigger fuller exposed. What holster do you recommend for my use

I use a Safariland 002. They come in 4", 6" and 7" versions. Not expensive. I'm not ready for the more modern "skeleton" holsters.

I put my 5" TRR8 in a 4" holster and it works, but I didn't like the barrel sticking out past the end of the holster. I have a 6" holster on order to deal with that. The 4" was fine for my 620 - L frame, but too tight on the N frame. I'm going to use a heat gun and a little care to loosen the new one for the TRR8.

I had a local SASS leather craftsman work me up one that fits all my N & L frame 4-5" revolvers. It works fine for my use, has been approved by all the match directors in the forms I shoot, and is something I actually like & feel comfortable using. Today I even used it well with a 617 ICORE match.

Blade Tech sounds like what you need. Since your barrel length precludes you from IDPA, the speed rig will work great for you. Approved for both USPSA and ICORE. Here's the link...

While the 6.5" barrel model 25 is not listed, Blade Tech will generally make you a holster of the proper specs. I don't believe that there is any extra charge, but it will require you to call and talk with them, or e-mail them about availability. Depending on options chosen it will run $80 - $90.

I don't shoot ICORE so I'm not sure if their rules allow an under/over belt system (they simply said the holster must be attached to your gun belt). If you intend to use such a system, then the Tech-Lock attachment would be recommended. If the holster will be going on the belt that holds up your pants and is threaded through your belt keepers, then the Stingray attachment method will give you more flexibility in placement.

Also for consideration if using an under/over belt system is the Double Alpha Racer Holster at $130. It will accommodate any N-Frame regardless of barrel length - so if you have multiple N-frames in various barrel lengths, the added cost may be worthwhile...
