Shooting IDPA for the first time with a revolver.
I'm planning on shooting my model 10 next Saturday and was wondering if ya'll have any advice for me. I've shot five matches so far, but with pistols, so this will be a little different.
I'm going to use two Safariland comp 2 speedloaders and two speed strips since this is to improve/get used to using my carry gear.
BTW: there is only one guy that shoots SSR at the match and he's not been to the last three matches, but hopefully he'll be there so I can have some on site corrections.
Thanks!

IDPA with a model 10
I shot an IDPA competition yesterday with a model 10. I use Safariland CompIII and a Safariland 333 that I modified to make it IDPA legal. I'm usually last but always first in my division since no one else shoots SSR. It's fun and a challenge. You will enjoy it. Good luck!!!

I have shot revolver quite a bit in IDPA. You can't afford to drop a shot. The reload times make accuracy MUCH more important. Get the proper grip on the gun while in the holster to improve first shot accuracy. It is always a little lonely in revolver class but that means less performance pressure from the squad.

The bullet profile makes a difference. Practice your reloads, and practice some more.

I used factory 130gr RN FMJ ammo quite a bit. Usually no change in zero from the 125gr 357 Mag carry loads. Safariland speed loaders and carriers, usually. Had some carriers made as well when the rules tightened up. Talon, I think.
Actually got more out of the matches running wheelguns than pistols. When you're "on" you give up nothing accuracy wise. Smooth draws and reloads are where the time is made.Or lost!

I shot my M15 last year and my M625 JM this year in the WA state matches and won the marksman classification both times.
It is more challenging, usually can't afford to round dump, so accuracy is paramount.
I just enjoy the wheel guns more, especially since a small LCR is my usual carry.
Good luck & tell us how you do!

Calm down Joe, his match hasn't even started yet.

Well, I ended up not being able to make it do to life happening. (nothing serious, but it required attention.) on the bright side I get more time to practice.
