M&P reduced recoil springs
Looking for guidance. My wife has begun shooting Idpa w/ me, using my M10. She is more comfortable w/ the revolver simply because she has difficulty w/ retracting the slide on any of my pistols. The challenge is after a few stages she begins to fatigue w/ the double action trigger. She also has carpal tunnel issues in both hands.
Anyone have similar issues and any recommendation if a reduced recoil spring can help? What loads do you restrict to the reduced spring and still meet power factor?
Thanks- want to make it enjoyable for her

A reduced recoil spring will make the recoil ever heavier.
Slide will slam against the stop harder, not to mention it's harder on the gun too.

I shoot a .40 full size. I went with a reduced power recoil spring to accommodate my 130 power factor IDPA loads. I bought the spring from Speed Shooters Specialties, but I don't remember what weight spring I chose. Since the springs are cheap and relatively easy to change you may want to buy a few different weight springs and try them out.The spring pack allows you to choose 3 different spring weights while saving a few bucks. I suggest trying the 11, 13 and 15 pound springs.
I suggest starting by finding a load that will give a 130 to 135 power factor. (Always better to exceed the power factor than to show up at a major match and not make chrono.) Once you are sure your load meets the required power factor, try the different springs until you find one that makes the gun easier to rack the slide, while maintaining proper function and providing acceptable accuracy.

Sprinco makes a "recoil reduction" progressive spring system. I got one just to fool around with something new (OK, I admit it, I'm a parts junkie ). It works well and one benefit that you may find interesting is that the effort to rack the slide is dramatically less, but the felt recoil is less as well. I suspect the progressive springs are what does this. They're somewhat pricey at $70 but I think they would help your wife. I ended up putting that spring assembly into my wife's pistol and she likes it a lot. Hope this helps Sprinco USA -- Recoil Reducers

Just noticed your location, where in the PNW are you? If you're close to me you could try my Sprinco progressive recoil spring and see what you think before you spend $70.
