Smith & Wesson Historical Foundation request
Hello folks... I believe this is my first post.
Hopefully I am not out of line and picked the correct area to post my question.
Back in September 2022, I completed the paperwork and sent funds to the Smith & Wesson Historical Foundation requesting any information on a S&W Second Model American, probably made circa 1873. The check has cleared and I recently sent an e-mail to the Foundation requesting a status update on my request with no response.
If you know, what is the normal turn around time for a request to the Foundation to be answered? Just want to make sure that the Foundation received my request and is working on it and that my check was not cashed by fraudsters.
Thanks!

SWHF request
Bill... thanks for your response. Just attempting to confirm that my request is still in the mix. You should be getting another request shortly for a S&W Model No. 2 Old Model Revolver.
Thanks again! Ed K.

What time period of S&W invoices & records are currently being digitized & when
might they be available for attachment to the factory historical letters ? ( The SWHF info page currently says digitized records only go back to 1920 and that older records don't exist ?? I know the stocking room logs for Safety Hammerless guns from about 1880s to WW1 are at the Museum, so older records do exist . ) Thank you, Ed Cornett SWCA # 15

Ed, Bill has stated that the digitized records go up to about 1965 at the late end, but I haven't read of any plans for electronically archiving pre-1920 material.

Records that are digitized and indexed start in 1920 and end in 1967. Currently, there are no plans to digitize and index records earlier than 1920 although the shipping records from the beginning of the partnership were digitized (not indexed) in 2008 in order to preserve them. S&W has paper records for the period, 1968-1977, that I would like to digitize if we can work out the details with S&W in the future. Dr. Jinks has the order books for the pre-war .357 Magnums that would also be a worthwhile project in my opinion.
Once a factory letter has been obtained on a S&W firearm, a collector can request a search of the digitized and indexed records by the Foundation. Documents located will be provided to the collector for a fee. If nothing is found, there is no charge for the search.

Bill, I second that opinion! Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help with that project.
