Default For you S & W box specialists

Wondered if anyone who is thoroughly "up" on what era box went with what era of gun would do a photo posting that could be kept here as a reference...approximate date range, etc.

If this already exists here somewhere, I can't find it.

There is that one thread titled..."boxes, what about boxes"... (or something like that) that has all of the pictures. Could someone do a copy/paste on the pictures and put it in a new thread with the date ranges?

As a related note can you all tell me what kind of box would go with these guns? :

1956/57 K22
1959 Model 29
1970's (?) ser.#M12133X Model 63

Thanks for your patience. Sorry if all of this is listed here somewhere and I just can't find it.

Default Boxes

Just purchased & received my copy of "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson" and it has that info on page(s) 28-34. A whole lot of info in this book and well worth the $28.

Thanks for the reply Jack. Have the 1st edition, it has virtually nothing on boxes, didn't realize the latest edition (3rd?) had been updated and expanded so much until I started reading reviews on it.

Will get a copy.

1956 K-22 would be a Gold Box
1959 Model 29 would be a Black Presentation Case.
70's Era Kit Gun would be a Slip Top Box, Blue for a Blue Gun, Silver for a Nickle Gun.

1956 K-22 could also have been the black/grey box.
