State Patrolman holster
I need some information as to did S&W make a state patrolman holster to fit j frame guns - I found one for the k frame (B16 34) and would like to find one as I really like that style and would work very well for what I am wanting to use it for. If not would the k frame be too large for my gun. (Model 34 4") Any help would be appreciated.

I may be wrong but weren’t the holsters contracted out through Gould & Goodrich? They are still around. Perhaps you could write or call them up and see if they have record of what you are looking for.

To my understanding it was the name given to a holster made for smith and wesson. One being a model # B16 34 with the S&W logo over the model number

The S&W leather catalogs for the late 70s show the various "State Patrolman" line of holsters. They are usually worn with a Sam Brown belt. The B16 is described as " A rugged holster for medium and large frame revolvers with a 4 1/2 to 6 in. barrel. It has a concealed swivel, metal reinforcing plate, locking swivel, single retaining strap, sight protector and open trigger guard. Available with 2 1/2 in. belt loop, in black only, plain or basket weave." The B36 Model is the same but has cartridge loops on the belt loop. The 34 code is for a S&W K Frame or a Ruger Security six revolver. The catalogs do not list any State Patrolman style holsters for small frame revolvers, however any good custom holster maker could fabricate a J frame holster in the Patrolman style. .Ed.

May have to go the way of the custom holster as I can't find much in the way of size difference between the j frame and k frame. Thanks for all the help in leading me in the right direction. MTR
