Default Infomation on old catalog

Just noticed a catalog picture in the SCSW that I have not really seen before.
3rd edition page 383 centre left between the revolver and 1901 catalogs.

If I had to guess I would say the design dates to late 1870s.

Can someone please give some information on this catalog.
Better pictures would be great.

First off, I didn't supply any pictures for the SCSW. The only catalog pictured on page 383 that is correct is the "THE REVOLVER" catalog. The catalog under it is missing it's cover. It can't be correctly identified without looking at the inside pages, as it could be one of three different catalogs. The other three are all reproductions.

Thanks, being an inside page I still don’t recognise it. What catalogs can they be, which 3 are you talking about?
Whoever put up the picture maybe considers the jayco’s good enough……

At a gun show a few years ago a gun dealer, who I had purchased S&W’s from, came up to me and said “I have a very old S&W catalog do you want it”. Of course I replied yes. When he said “1903” I asked how much do you want for it. He replied “nothing I was going to throw it out, I knew you would want it, I have it with me”. As he was getting it out of the bag my joy quickly disappeared, I could see it was the jayco 1903. Same as the 1901 in the book. I thanked the gentleman very much for the catalog, too this day have not found an original so have this reprint in the folder guarding the pocket.

Jaycos are the best repro catalogs, quality wise, of which I am aware. Jayco was the business name of Jay Herald, an early member of the S&WCA and a serious S&W collector during the 50s to approx. the 80s. when he passed away. Jay and I were friends for many years and he was a professional printer operating is own printing and publishing company. Clean copies of his repro S&W catalogs are difficult to find today and bring good prices. Ed.

I have a few Jayco reprints and they are very good quality.

I’m interested in knowing the catalogs that the page could belong too.

What is interesting to me is the S&W printed on the left with the S&W logo on the right. Appears to me almost like an introduction of the S&W logo.
