Hi, new to forums. Someone recommended that I come here to ask about the SW belt buckles I have.

I purposely spent a lot of effort 25+ years ago to find these same serial numbers (0917) one from 1977(125 anniversary) and one from 1978 (The Last Cartridge, 1 of 1000pcs).

My question is the 1977 buckle and medallion, anyone know how many were produced? On the internet, there are a lot of replicas, brass, nickel, silver plated and cheap too $30-40. Mine is stamped Sterling with serial number on the back. Anyone with a rough idea of value? My other buckle says 1 of 1000 on the box.

That's a 1989 Smith & Wesson "Absolute Reliablity" buckle # J-300. Made in brass & pewter. They sell on Ebay for about $10-$20. The 125th anniv. buckle, with medallion, in sterling silver, will bring around $50 at a S&W meet primarily due to it being sterling. maybe a little more with orig. box & paperwork. Based on observed serial numbers, it is believed that approx. 1,000 of the sterling buckles were produced. Ed.
