Default S&W Collapsable Baton Questions

Today's flea market find: A collapsable metal baton. I picked this up from a retired arson investigator who said he took it from a Russian mafia type some years back Measures about 12" extended, 5" collapsed. Handle appears to be aluminum, extensions are steel. This is an interesting addition to my collection as I have S&W marked wood billie, flat leather sap, and of course, various cuffs.

Can anyone tell me the vintage on this? I did find what appears to be an identical baton on ebay listed as new with 17 available... old stock?

Never seen one but the new ones look to have a flat side. Yours looks to be completely round. Monadnock used to make an aluminum friction lock that was completely aluminum and was a bear to collapse. Possibly made by them as they were a short distance away from Springfield, MA in NH.

ASP was a major supplier of these Batons. Collapsible. Compact. Somewhat handy. I always preferred the straight wooden stick or the Monadnock sticks with the handle. The agency that I work for now and my old agency went to the ASP. Not a fan but you use what you are allowed to. ASP made different lengths of this model.
