How Collectible? Genuine S&W Posters
I am a camera collector. But I recently ran into a factory S&W designer. The guy is 98 years old.
He just called to say "while packing to move, they found two factory wall posters".
Thet are being held for me. It is an 80 mile drive.
Are real posters a big deal?
Do I drive in the Ford Fusion, or do I get out the Ferarri Testa Rosa?
Seriously, are they a big Value $$ deal? I do have a man cave room for them.

Yes, they are, especially if they are in nice condition and the older, the better.

I would suggest you get emailed photos of them before you make the trip. "factory wall posters" covers a world of merchandise and not all of them are collectable. However, once you are there, you might acquire other items that are very collectable. ( If you hear a drooling noise coming from a dumpster, don't worry - that's just Don Mundell )

I think many are missing the MAIN point, that being a kindly old man offered a gift to another person. So the question is does this person do the “right thing” and accept the gift or not?
For whatever it’s worth I suggest the O/P thank the gentleman and make the drive pick up the posters and thank a kindly stranger for a thoughtful gift.

OK I went there in the Car. Look, I did get a vey nice old Exakta camera and some lenses from this guy last month....I am a film user and camera seller. I paid him. There were 5 items. Two store posters by Dan Smith, his originals were on display in Springfield. A gunsmith countertop display pad, a Dirty Harry 29 picture featured on the Unforgiven movie, and a Sigma Series blowup diagram poster.
I will not have enough space to mount more than one.
I will show the photos when I pick a hosting site......my old place went out of business. ( that means all my old pictures here are gone poof.

Try postimage---I switched to it for photo hosting and it seems fairy simple to use and my photos have not been held hostage like the last site I used.

I don't mean to hijack the thread but can I ask about a picture at my local Pistol Club. This is hanging up in the clubhouse. It looks quite old and the framing company's phone number is very old; at least before 1989. Eastwood and Parramatta are suburbs of Sydney. Would anyone know the history of these posters?
That's a billiard ball to give you some idea of the size.

It's not real old, it's a 3 screw. The early prints show a 4 screw.

The posters are really common. Not worth $10.00 ean, all 1990's issue or newer. I threw away cases oe each. I was given them at the SW Academy.

OP, I've seen the "copy" posters sell between $80-$120.00 in the past, with a frame. Make of this what you will.

They are collectible if you can buy more than one. If you can drive a Ferrari Testarossa, that is what you should drive :-).

The polite and gentlemanly thing to do is to make the trip, and accept the posters the man has offered, and thank him for his generosity. Even if the posters have no more value than the same ones you can buy brand new on Amazon, or whatever.
I would also write on the back of each poster the date and circumstances of how I obtained them, including the fact they were from the S & W factory. Give the address. And the name and former position of the designer too.

It doesn't matter that they came from the factory. The cases I have and had all came from the factory. They are common. I took a case of mixed posters to the SWCA Annual meeting in Baton Rouge. The largest gathering of Smith & Wesson collectors in the world and gave them away. When the dust settled, I still had a few dozen left over! Fed them to the dumpster out back.
