Default Original boxes…..

Inquired over on the S & W forum so I thought I would seek opinions here as well. Own several boxes for various Colt And Smith guns. Is it favorable or ill-advised to adhere loose portions of the box (corners, any other areas ) with adhesive of some type? If so, what are the preferred products/methods to use? Thanks!

I was told from every antique dealer to leave it as is.

Gary Lowe ("glowe" here) is a master when it comes to the repair/restoration/preservation of boxes. I'll suggest his opinions on any and everything having to do with boxes is the best we have available-----and based upon the work he's done for me, quite possibly the best to be had anywhere.

I have repaired a couple of boxes by using a very small amount of carpenters glue applied directly to the edges with a Q-tip or a tooth pick. A moistened Q-tip will remove any excess before it dries. Clamping by hand or "Mc Giver" for a short time until it bonds
