Default SAT's and the post office

In my quest to obtain the correct SAT for a pistol, a forum member sent me this picture.

SAT's and the post office-45909497dccf93de3229d400bcdc8486-jpg

I don't remember who sent it, or i would give him credit. Sorry.

Well, of course that set me on another quest- to collect all the SATs.

I've picked up some from forum members and this last one off ebay. Its the one on the far left. It was advertised as a post-war 9 row knurled SAT (pictures in ad were much shinier). Turns out, it's the nickled 9 row--I'm happy.

I'm even more happy that it wasn't lost forever- took 6 weeks for delivery from a neighboring state. (I deleted addresses)

Mine aren't as pristine as the first pic and I've got a few more to go. We'll see.

OP, the bar code can be scanned and the number can be tracked, you may want to black those out in the picture.

You're only missing the Straight Line Model Single shot .22LR SAT.

The first picture in your post is RKmesa's photo.

He also shows, in that photo, the narrow tipped, post war transitional kit gun SAT.

Good luck finding that one.

In your second picture the one pictured on the far left is a:

Pre war, nine row knurled, nickel over steel with a black oxide coated steel shaft.

Some may be located in early post war K22 boxes, but they were introduced with the K22 2nd Model, Masterpiece that was only built in 1940.

I've got some duplicates in there.
I need three more (not including the most modern).
The 7 row nickel, the blued narrow tip, and the post-war aluminum 9 row.

Wasn’t there an earlier one that had a brass handle and perhaps a removable bit? Perhaps it would have come with the very earliest target models such as the Beakert?

It's a nice start, but you have a ways to go. The long handle SAT was made for the Academy. Some people had big hands and had a hard time with the tiny handle. I also have an SAT with an ivory handle.
Keep looking.

Hi Don,

Would love to see photos of the ivory handle SAT. Any idea if factory original or what it shipped with?

Bob

I second that request, if it's possible. That's something I just don't run into every day at the hardware store!

This was given to me by Roy. He showed it to me in November 2016 in D B Wessons office. He handed it to me and said "Merry Christmas". He told me he had a piece of ivory from the factory. He had some made up in the factory.

I have an SAT that I'm pretty sure came with my dad's K22. It's the only thing that I have that probably came with his gun. 1. Are these things worth anything, like 3 digits, or are they too plentiful? 2. Instead of a cheap plastic bore brush, perhaps they can come up with an inexpensive gun tool that could be used for the sights, stocks, etc. I would buy one if it was for S&Ws (S&W logo). The later-manufactured ones.
