Default Model specific instructions

Does anyone know offhand about when S & W stopped issuing model specific instructions and went to generic revolver or auto pistol instructions?

I believe 1988.

I have the 'old' four page model specific Instruction Sheets from 1986 and all the generic pistol manuals have been 3rd generation. Have not seen a generic manual for 2nd gen pistols or model specific for a 3rd gen
