any good. I shoot local 2 gun matches w/ my FPC and the stages are usually set up around 30 rnd capacity ARs so I have to reload w/ the 24s or 22s that came w/ the rifle. Have any of you used either of the above?

Factory or Mec-gar are the only mags I'll trust

Check out Creig Cote LLC
I agree. The only mags I buy are MecGar18 rnd for our Beretta 92s and I get them from Cote. But all he has are the S&W 23 rnd and I have 2 of them that came w/ the gun.

The ETS magazines will not work at all in my FPC, although they work in my M&P9's.
I've never tried a ProMag in my FPC or M&P9's, but my experience with ProMags in other guns has been mixed - mostly bad.

I’ve wondered a few times why S&W chose such a specific number as 23 for their extended mags. I’ve come to a couple of conclusions.
1. Thats all an extension would reliably hold without breaking.
2. Longer would not comforting fit in the butt stock.

I'm curious as to why S&W opted to size the grip for compact magazines, requiring the "sleeve" to provide a comfortable grip for the 17- and 23-round magazines. The 15-round magazine is the same length as the 17-, so it would require a sleeve. I know because I have a 15 and the grip is uncomfortable without a sleeve.

Does anyone know if S&W will provide the sleeves for those like me? Or, should I call S&W CS?

Compact size grip allows compact and full size grips, which increases compatibility.

I hope that now the FPC is gaining in popularity we'll see more hi cap options besides Promag.
My experiences with Promag has been very hit n miss. Tried their hi cap Beretta .40 mag and it went in the trash. But their g44 mags are as good as factory Glock. I think for every good Promag I own I've tossed one in the trash.
BTW it's not hi cap but I just ordered a few 17 round ACT mags from Greg Cotes LLC for $20 a pop. I have ACT mags for other platform and they're all as good as MecGars. Midwest gun Works has the spacers for $8 a pop as well.
I just got my FPC a few days ago so no range time yet. While it's quite a bit bigger than my SUB2k it's also a lot nicer to hold. S&W was smart to put the mags in the grip rather than a magwell with an adaptor in front of the trigger. Keep it compact and simple and who cares if it doesn't take Glock mags? There's plenty of other carbines that do, and I have a few.

Buy your self a promag 50rd drum mag if more rounds floats your boat .

FYI - Polymer ETS 30 round mags for the M&P will NOT work in the FPC. The polymer feed lips will not clear the bolt. They work in the hand guns, but not in the FPC.

BTW on sleeves, I have seen a few posts from FPC owners who got an extra sleeve from S&W CS for a few bucks.
I don't see any other aftermarker sleeves like Xgrip available.

It’s true that ETS polycarbonate magazines intended for M&P handguns will not work in the FPS. Not as they come in the ETS package, that is. But they can be modified to function perfectly.

Disassemble the magazine; you’ll just be working on the tube. If you’re confident and competent doing precise work, here’s what needs to be done. (If you’re thinking of grabbing a Dremel Tool this may not be the project for you.)

First the lips must be reshaped to fit into the grooves in the bottom of the bolt. These should be sized just a hair less than the width and the depth of the grooves with the outer surface the same angle as the outer wall of the groove. Once fitted you may have to skim just a bit off the top of the lips so the bolt passes over the lips without any contact.

The second step requires enlarging the cutout for the bolt stop linkage. This “notch” must be enlarged so the projection of the linkage arm that engages the magazine follower as it rises has clearance to move freely. To achieve this, insert the magazine tube tube till it clicks into place. Then wiggle the external bolt stop releases to see where the linkage contacts the magazine tube. The objective is to provide space all around the projection. Remove material to increase the depth first, then enlarge the front of the notch and the side of the notch.

Test the function of the FPS and the magazine with dummy cartridges before loading up and doing live fire.
