After running 300 Rounds thru, & a lot of fiddling, got this thing working like it should. 1st-Balance. With 2 loaded mags. in the stock, it is way too stock heavy for accurate, quick sighting. I added some barrel weights at the end of the barrel, to get it to balance, got the result, then added an old compensator, of the same appox. weight. Then the Optic. Mounting an optic at the end of the rail, exceeds the eye box of most optics. It's usable, but very difficult. I added an aftermarket Optic mount that moves the optic back, into the eye box zone. What a difference! Now this FPC operates as it should.........

Glad the OP got his carbine set up the way he likes.
I personally think two loaded mags in the stock is too tail heavy. And if you want them close, a side pouch makes for faster mag swaps. It's a great way to store mags when folded, or a handy place to pop in an empty mag if you don't want to lose it.
I wouldn't add any unneeded weight to this rifle. It's light, keep it that way.
Although I did add a Harbinger muzzle device just for looks.

Loaded magazines stored in the buttstock (where they belong) make no difference to me. I do not want to add unnecessary weight to any gun, ever. The bottom lug on a Colt Python (or S&W's copy of that feature) is a perfect example.

No muzzle device on any 9mm for me, please.

Boar, meet mammary glands.

I've read the instruction pamphlet that came with the gun and could find nothing stating you MUST store the mags in the stock, loaded or unloaded. It's America - you have freedom of choice - at least about this! :p

The two mags in the butt makes for a good "grab and go package"... 63(?)rds.

Throw it in the car or truck........ and go;

Have a Safariland (?)"Backpacker' on the butt of my Beretta CX 4;two 20rd mags and one 18 in the gun 58rds... would not carry it around like that; would redistribute "at least" one/if not both of the 20 rd mags to a pocket or something.

Too much polymer for my taste. Looks to be handy though. These are more my idea of a .45 pcc.

Just like one grip size doesn’t fit all, one balance point doesn’t suit everyone. I’m not blessed with a lot upper body strength and have shortish arms, so rear biased guns like bullpups are my preference.

I find the FPC with the mags on it and folded fine for storage but once pulled out to use those mags mounted in the stock go into a belt mounted mag holders . There not fast the access or change where there stored in the stock and it does make the weight and balance point more than a bit odd but easy to deal with .
LVSteve Whats short arm length to you . My wifes a little bit at 5-2 and a and my youngest grandson is 12 and both enjoy the fpc with a dot optic on it .

I don't own an FPC, so my comment on arm length comes from years of collecting Enfields where the butt is often mismatched. Almost every time the long buttstock had been fitted. I don't know if this is because everyone has longer arms than me or they like a length of pull extending across a couple of zip codes.:D

Well again no arm length or required LOP so any reply is just guessing !

In a quick handling carbine I like a shorter length of pull and our FPC was Not bought for defensive needs . It's just a fun gun than happans to use M&P mags .

If a defensive firearm is needed my little 68 year old wife would grab here AR15 carbine with the M4 stock pulled up short for the 10.5" LOP .

Guess your moving on to some adjustable or shorter for FOP so good luck !

Glad the OP got his FPC sorted the way he wants it. However...

Empty weight - 5 lb
Two loaded 23 round magazines - 22 ounces
Might as well have a loaded magazine in the mag well too - 11 ounces
Compensator and added weights (to make the gun muzzle heavy) - 16 ounces?
Extended optic mount and scope - 12 ounces?

By this rough guess, that turns the FPC into an 8 lb, 13 oz longarm.
