Default loose trigger Model 1854?

Finally got my hands on one and took it to the range and super smooth and accurate. However this morning I noticed that the trigger is really loose before the trigger break whether cocked, or uncocked. I assume this is not normal. Is anyone else having the same problem? I didn’t notice this yesterday probably because of the excitement of new gun day. It is loose moving forward and back like dangling loose

Have you compared it to a Winchester or Marlin? Triggers in those classic models are floppy too. They never bothered me.
What you are observing may be normal.
