Default Finally....AR-15 .22 owner...New to forum as well!

Ok guys I've been lurking the past week and I finally bit the bullet and purchased my first S@W. I obviously have a couple of questions...

1. I didn't get the MOE edition but I would like to at least install a flip up rear sight. Will a magpul rear sight work with the front standard sight on my gun?

2. Which foregrip to choose? I'm all about saving money here and there so I don't mind off brands on this like UTG or so. I do want one that folds up.

3. I think I screwed up on my bipod selection. I bought the UTG of amazon and it is too short when the 25 round magazine is in. Any suggestions?

4. I had an old barska laser that I transferred to this gun but I can't seem to find the pressure cord that goes with it to mount onto the foregrip. Any Suggestions?

I haven't shot it yet and I can already tell I'm going to love it!!!

Yes, but upgrading to flip front and rear sights is the way to go. You will enjoy being able to flip both down when you use a scope or red dot, and they look much better IMO.

Get a short 10-round magazine for bench shooting. The 25 round mag will be too long to comfortably shoot with just about any bipod or rest.

Welcome to the forum.

Zrader: You and me both. Mine should be shipping later this week. I can't answer many questions, but I can tell you this. I already purchased the short 10 rnd mag from 44mag.com. It was only $21 shipped. Make sure you get the short mag as there is also a 10 rnd mag that is the same length as the 25 rnd. I purchased this because I think it will work a lot better when shooting from the bench and make the gun easier to carry when hunting squirrels.

Concur on the 10 round shorties.

When I made a recommendation of the UTG from Amazon in another thread,
I did mention it does not work well with the 25 rounders.

I have 2 of each.

What I usually end up doing is having the 25's loaded up prior to the range
in my carry case. When I hit it, I empty them in pretty short order to get
my cordite levels into an acceptable range, then calmly fire the 10's from
the bench. Rarely do I reload the 25's in the field, as I save that for the
gun-cleaning and beer-drinking festivities upon returning home...

Wow, I went to pick up my M&P 15/22 today, what a nice 22lr. Solid build, it may not be metal but the composite is great. It cycled well and everything feels just like it's full size brother AR15.. I know I have to outfit it with Magpul to match my ARs.. then train with it as if using the AR15 with the cost of shooting a 22... sweet...
