M&P 15-22 BARREL SHROUDS
Hey guys, several people have asked about the barrel shrouds I've made. In attempt to help people on here out if i can get enough people to say they want 1 I think I can do a "group buy" thing just because its easier to setup and make 10 than it is to make just 1.. and i can get the materials cheaper in bulk...i may have to put this in the classifieds, dont know if its legal here..lol but not trying to sale here just curious as if its posible to get a group thing going on.. or if anyone is interested in it
Here are the pics again

I like the one pictured in the first photo that is fluted. I would be up for one of those along with getting my barrel threaded cost prohibiting.

How are they attached? do you need a threaded barrel? Can the first be blackened?

The thread title is a little misleading. I don't see any barrel shrouds in those pics. I see a couple nice looking compensators and some fake cans, but not a barrel shroud. A barrel shroud is a ventilated cover for the barrel to keep you from burning your hands (ie. mg-42, Winchester model 12 combat shotgun, etc).
I suppose the fake suppressor could be construed as a barrel shroud, but that's not it's primary purpose.
I may be interested in one of the compensators for my 10/22, but the 15-22 is probably getting a PWS FSC556.

ill try and answer some of your questions.. if im not detailed enough just ask again.. please..
first off im located in warren co. tn
2nd the shrouds are threaded on and because it does butt up on the forarm it needs to be fitted to the rifle .. un less you guys wanna do away with the plug on the end of the foreamrm and let it replace it... Because im custom making these they dont really have to be threaded i can use set scews... but i dont like that idea... and i can change anything about them as far as cosmetics..
3rd the intregal suppressor looking shroud is billet aluminum... made from 1 piece... the varmint model is made from two piece and is semi adjustable (the barrel bushing is pressed into the shroud and can be fine adjusted with a punch and hammer..
4th yes i can leave them billet (silver) or duracoat them black.. duracoat is a baked on coating that you see on high end camo AR-15s and H&Ks
i set down and figured up what it will cost for me to make them...
pm for price i dont think i can list that here

I do regret any misleading info.... but a shroud by def. is an item that covers and/or protects another item... so i thought i was using the correct term.. please forgive

No worries. At least you didn't try and say it was "a shoulder thing that goes up".

Barrel Shroud
So you can build me one of these? I love it! I really am interested in the black shroud that spans the length of the barrel. What do i need to do to get one?

reply from s&w about barrel shrouds
I asked Smith and wesson about the barrel shroud, and if they will sell a seperate threaded barrel, here is the reply.
"Sir
The rifle that shows an optional barrel shroud has not been made. It does not look like it will be made. Unfortunately the threaded barrel is not for sale at this
Time. "

BELT_FED,
No harm, no foul here really, but we do prefer that business, whether for fun or profit, be done in the ads.
We see posts like this, and if they drift away after 15 minutes of fame, no problem.
If it continues as an ongoing enterprise, it should be set up as a classified ad, so I'll lock this one now.
