M&P 15-22 = TROUBLE
So I picked up my new 15-22 and walked into the house with it. The little lady was their waiting for me. NOW what did you buy, she asked. Hmmm, I thought, this could get ugly.
OK, let's see it she said calmly. Me, like a kid on Christmas morning I opened the box to show her. After making sure it was unloaded I handed it to her. Her reaction was, lightweight it almost feels like a toy, she said. I said it's a .22 not as heavy the AR15's I have. A .22, she asked? A smile came across her face and she said very nice. OK, give it back now, I said. Hey, I like this, maybe I should get one for myself (she does have a firearms permit) as she continued to fondle it.
I didn't tell her how much it cost however.
This could be trouble!

I guess I am one of the luck few.... my wife would rather send money on me than herself! She knows about all the money i've spent so far, and the only thing she says is " are you done buying stuff yet? " (in a joking manner also)
And before anyone asks.... Yes she has a sister.... No she isn't available..... and if she was, she is nothing like my wife! (complete opposite... spend all the money on her!)

Rule number one with my wife... don't lie.... she's good with firearms. All joking aside, it's great to have a wife who enjoys firearms. When I came home with the 15-22 she asked how much it was. I told her what I paid, $439. Her response was 'looks like a pretty good deal'. She's a keeper.

My wife thinks I traded in my Kahr .40 in for the 15-22. Good thing is she doesn't know the difference between a Kahr and a Kimber and the Kahr is sitting in the night stand beside our bed

lolol... its funny to hear how much alike we ALL are! just outta curiosity.. for us that are..we'll call it "fibbing".. how old are you, and how long have you been married/involved? id be curious to see the development of marraige. I know phils a little older than myself, and thinks hes got the old-lady trained!
This should be a funny social-experiment.
Im 32, married for almost 8 years..

37, married 10 years.
Looking at my current inventory of firearms, my wife has purchased more of them for me than I bought for myself. Granted, it was all with my money, but it's the thought that counts.
The 15-22 and a S&W Model 29 .44 Mag are the most recent "gifts".

my wife was with me when I bought mine (she wrote the check) and her favorite part of the whole thing was the little "Kick Brass" thing around the barrel...at first glance she didn't see the "Br" and started laughing.

You always have to be sure to tell your wife ... "If I die, make sure you sell my guns for what they're WORTH, NOT what I told you I paid for them".

56 married 35
When I bought mine she didn't say to much. She bought herself a Browning A bolt Prong Horn series 243, a Savage 17HMR and a 870 12ga. combo this year for turkey hunting. There is no way I could KEEP her out of the woods. Damn...I am a lucky guy aint I?
PS...Oh ya...She bought herself a crossbow also.

While everyone is sharing, I'm 26, married at 25! My wife is surprisingly open to the idea of my gun buying. In fact, she shot my rifle for the fire time today and talked about getting one of her own.

43 - 12... she was always against guns in the house, even though her family had them and hunted often; finally this year, I talked my way into my very first gun ever... the beloved 15-22. Since then, I reasoned the need for a Stevens 200 .223 and a Ruger SR22 handgun... and now she's considering getting a CPL! :-)

Trouble?....what trouble?..... just buy her one and then you can double-up on buying the 'extras' to keep her happy......she's less likely to give you flack if hers is as nice as yours.

Mine does not know I've got the 15-22 yet. (I don't it is still at the shop, thank you local laws) but I'm going to catch hell for buying it when I bring it home.
That's why I want the Magpul pink gear.
Although it isn't fair, the shotgun she wants costs R40 000. If you add up ALL the guns I own I don't even get close to that mark

Okay gentlemen, consider this a fair warning. In about ten years a curly-haired brunette with a button nose and laughing brown eyes will be out there dating and (hopefully) marrying well. Do NOT; repeat, DO NOT attempt any of these lame tactics you guys are bragging about on her; they will not work! She will know about guns and shooting and have a well-developed bull-**** detector that will sniff through your lame lies and pathetic ploys and have you whining like a scolded puppy before you can call Teleflorist for a "I'm Sorry" bouquet.
She is my Granddaughter and she gets her first auto-pistol for Christmas this year (she already runs my wheel-gun trainer just fine) and her daddy and I will make sure she knows how to use it and who to use it on! You've been warned men, so tell your sons not to mess with the curly-topped pistol named Cheyanne!

Guys, y'all do realize that this thread is about 3 years old and the original poster has posted anything for a couple of years now right? With that being said, my wife had said that it looked like a toy instead of a "real" gun too.

My wife was a little upset about the price, but got over it. I would rather face it up front than get caught in a lie. My wife is very intelligent and is a good listener.
28 married a little over a year. Together eight years.
And I bought the rifle because she was worried about coyotes and raccoons bothering her dwarf goats.

I really feel sorry (not really) for you guys who need permission from your spouse before you can buy anything, much less a firearm. There's an expression for that.
BTW, we've been happily married for 46 years and neither one of us tells the other what we can or cannot buy.

61-6. Was single 55 years,no kids, made great money. House paid for a ton of "boy" toy's.... Known my now wife (and her family) about 40 years. Just built a new house out in the "boondocks" on a lake. She comes from a family of 9 kids, been married twice and has two great boys (Men now),two wonderful Daughter-in-laws and two fresh and wonderful grandkids. Life is goooood. Instant family, kids are grown and moved out and I'm a Grandpa too. Hence the new and bigger house. Any whooooo. With all my "Boy" toys (which was ALSO part of the deal NOTHING OF MINE GOES ! end of discussion),she doesn't have a clue (still having my old house) over-all,of what I actually have totally. I'm slowly working on my mancave (I got well over a 3rd of the basement & the attached garage) BEFORE agreeing to building a new house and the rest is her's "so to speak". So,a new gun popping up now and then doesn't shock her. I still have a ton of stuff at my "old" place and am slowly moving it here so "I had it at my old place"works good. And usually before I do get anything new "boy-toy"wise,I let her know and she also has free rule on anything she wants, too. We split the bills first, some to emergency money, some to fun money and we each keep (an allowance) to do what we please,no questions asked. Overtime, who ever earned it keeps it. Works great for us. She also likes shooting with me now and then and IS great shooting handgun or rifle, but lets me (like I let her) have our own time. She will occasionally sneak something in,but I just let it ride. So guys, stand your ground and get-er-done BEFORE they stick that ring in your nose. Your survival chances WILL be much better.
If they don't agree,walk..****N !!! It doesn't get better,it can and will get worse.

There are many reasons I'm with mine, but the two favorite gun-related instances were as follows..
I went in to pick up a 15-22 and she was with me. I was looking at the MOE version, but was hesitating because I wanted to accessorize it a little differently so wasn't sure if it was worth it for me. She talked me into the standard version because "even though it might cost more, you'll be able to get what you want instead". Sold. Than on the way out, I had a huge smile on my face, and pretty new gun under my arm when I hear from behind me"Babe.... Don't you need a scope?"
So after shooting together a little while I asked her if she'd like her own to get comfortable with? She said ya so we head down to sportsmans warehouse and are looking at the lady wessons, and pink sigs, but she didn't seem real interested. When the guy shows up and asked if there's anything she'd like to look at, without hesitating she said "where's the 870's" lol
She's a keeper

This is an old thread so it must hit a lot of the right buttons of the men who read it (I say that because I've looked and can't find one post by a female!). In some ways I'm a little envious of a lot of you fellows and the problems/lack of problems with your wives because I lost my wife of 38 years last Thanksgiving to a long-term illness. I didn't get back into shooting until after she passed but it wasn't because of any objection she would have had. She always said I could have any hobby I wanted as long as it didn't involve other women. So motorcycles, woodworking, photography and knife collecting kept me entertained for all those years. Now I've rediscovered the shooting sport I enjoyed so long ago, though I no longer hunt (bad legs). I tell people I've had two weddings (wife-one split when she found out I was headed for Vietnam) and one war (Vietnam) and feel that's enough for one man. Take good care of the girls, fellas; and the good ones will take care of you!
