Someone can put a list with the meaning of the acronyms? :)

Thank you very much in advance

OOB is an Out of Battery discharge which basically means the round went off when it was not fully chambered.

OOB - out of battery
FTF - Failure to Feed OR Failure to Fire
FTE - Failure to Extract/Eject

Probably the most common three for a rimfire rifle. :)

Made it to 15k rounds +/- before having an OOB with the 15-22 today. I gave it a quick look over... looked fine... popped another 5rds... works fine. Will clean it up and go for another 15k rounds.

The OOB occurred during slow firing while sighting in new optic. Classic case of the round not fully chambering, bolt not closed yet the trigger still able to drop the hammer, engage the firing pin and ignite the round.

I hope everyone that has an OOB is sending an email to Smith. Heck, even if you have not experienced one yet.
If everyone got on them, maybe we would see a fix.
Of course they never answered my email, but with enough people showing concern, it might give them some incentive.

I sent S&W a nasty-gram back in January. No reply. My guess is that considering all the returns.... if they were going to make a design change they would have done so by now. For the firing mechanism to engage a 1/4''+ out of battery seems to me pretty poor design. None of my other 22s will do that. My S&W 22A trigger won't engage if there is a stiff breeze pushing against the bolt.

sorry to hear about your luck.. ive never had a 50 go oob but ive had several 30s and even a few casings break and then cook off.. allways good for video late in the afternoon... :D

flame pouring out of both ends of a belt fed gun is cool at almost dark:cool:

I thought I was lucky.... DTH didn't break. Though haven't really ispected it yet... that requires cleaning... :rolleyes.

Havn't seen you around much Beck.

By the way... your past advice about having a 'backup' rife worked out well. :D
