Default BAD Lever WORKS!! No gun mod needed.

I must say this gun has already been a blast and everyone Ive let shoot is looking hard at getting one. Quick range report, Flawless so far about 700+ rounds of Federal 550 bulk and 525 Champs. Very accurate with iron sights (polymer ) and new addition of a red dot has improved this. 30yrds, its in a 6" silhouette and can easily keep within 3" circles free standing with no supports. On to the BAD LEVER.

For those guys who have a BAD Lever on their .223's, there is hope! I run one on my MP15T and in order to make this 15-22 a replica training aide I had to make the BAD lever work. If you have a vice grip, portable propane torch, pliers, and 10 minutes it will easily work. WITHOUT grinding your receiver (I saw the photos of the one that decided grinding an expensive gun down for a $30 part...CRAZY IMHO)

I would give you my exact measurements but I just did the old trial and error method. I mounted it and seen it wouldn't work. I just heated the bend up and basically made the bend longer so it would reach farther down and back into the trigger well farther. It was really easy. Then touched up the paint that was burnt off with some krylon spray paint and cooked it on.

One extra question for those who are checking this out, anyone know what size riser to make the BSA cowitness the stock fixed sights? the current riser is a little too tall (3/4 i believe) just making sure its 1/2 i need.

Here are the pics. Bad Lever, Ergo Grip, BSA red dot, low profile rail ladder.

That is a damn good idea. As an HVAC guy I have a B tank and a couple other torches in my truck, and the idea of heating then expanding the bend never crossing my mind really ticks me off because I want one, but because of the mod issues I have reluctantly resisted. I blame all the little ones running through the house at all hours for destracting me from the obvious, but I thank you for your post and am ordering my B.A.D. lever........now! This is a great example of why I registered to this forum, thx!

Thumbs up

you can probably get away with just heating and pushing the vertical rod back into the trigger area. I did this the first time and decided to stretch it down just a bit on my second attempt. It doesn't need much heat at all and not much pressure is needed to do this. Just keep test fitting to make sure its good to go.

@ horntail, this allows you to lock the slide back without taking your hand away from the trigger. This benefits right handed shooters over leftys who can reach the paddle already.

@ beginning, you wont be disappointed, this lever followed closely by the BCM Extended Charging handle have been the best upgrades I have bought. (Unfortuanely only available for the 223) This cured the awkwardness with trying to figure out which hand goes where to lock back the slide for malfunctions and relieves the vulnerable feeling of not having your hand near the trigger.

Good luck and if anyone needs some comparison photos I should be able to take off my levers and compare a stock to the 22 moded one.

1/2 inch riser. It worked in my first set up with a red dot like yours perfectly. I am on my third set up on the same gun. The options are endless.
