Default Bipod mount wobbles ... ??

I need some help here.

I have a Harris 6" - 9" Bipod from Cabela's. And, wanted an easy adaptor to hook up to the bottom rail of the 15/22. We looked around and found a CAA universal bipod mount which looked pretty good.

The CAA mount is a push button deal ... mounts quickly.

Well, I mounted the Harris and the CAA to the gun and the unit is loose .... it wobbles like the mount is too large. I've moved it backwards and turned it around. Still wobbles.

Anyone know what to do here?

Here's what the mount looks like. Says it fits either type of rail system.

well i don't really see the harris being the problem.. that universal mount on the other hand. the problem with universal is that its never specific for what you want. picatinny is slightly different than weaver so weaver compatible is not really desirable. which direction is it wobbling, forward to rearward or side to side or everywhere inbetween? could always just be poorly manufactured..

You are correct, the Harris bipod is not the problem. It's the CAA mount.

It wobbles side to side .... the internals of the mount look less well machined than I would like to see. Almost embryonic or like it needs more work.

I've seen some folks refer to the LaRue LT 130 QD mount for the Harris bipod. This could be a good alternative (altho, more expensive, I am sure), but I cannot find it "alone". The LT 130 seems always attached to a Harris bipod for like $170ish. Where can I get the LT 130 QD alone?

i tried a Larue LT-171 LaRue Tactical 17S Upgrade LT-171 mount with an Atlas bipod Accu-Shot Atlas Bipod and it felt rock solid.

just a tad pricey though.

I run an American Defense AD-BP mount and like the Larue LT-171 it's rock solid, again not cheap (but worth every penny) and the tension of the QD lever is quickly field adjustable without tools.

$75.00

i got a bipod foregrip for 20 bucks on ebay and it mounts up fine and works great. Im not trying to be a prick and i dont want to step on any toes so forgive me. On a 480 dollar gun there is no way on Gods green earth i will spend 170 bucks on a portable sand bag. This being said if you got the money to do it and you can justify it I am no one to stop you, nor will i trash talk you. You make your money and can do whatever the heck you want with it, just stating my cheap arse opinion

So you mean I can't take my good BiPod off and use it on any other rifle with a Picatinny?

Accessories are not gun specific.. Justify the cost by knowing it can be used on any gun that has a rail on it.. And one quality bipod is better than four cheap one's

When you accumulate other firearms that use the same mounting system it will become much easier for you to justify some of the prices. Platform sharing is a good thing!
