"And now for something completely different..."
While mowing, I once snap-shot this rat running from the center of a tall patch of grass as he bounded away across the mowed portion using a Webley Mark IV .455, drawn from a 4-inch S&W N-Frame holster. The big bullet cut a deep furrow on the left side of his head, removing the left ear and eye. Oh, and he was DRT.
A Webley .455 fits perfectly in most N-Frame holsters.

Shooting critters and hunting is family friendly as far as I know. No better time spent with your children. Now I deleted the first pic because it was some type of critter photo doctored up to look like it was munching on a human finger
If it's about how you guys use your 15-22 shooting a critter that's fine by me. For general hunting episodes (not 15-22 related) the Lounge is a suitable forum.
No surprise to see Cajun has a fishing 15-22....

lol.....we've all been tempted by the M&P 15-22 fishing bug....my M&P 15-22 casts really well, haha.
I never wanted to offend anyone with this thread. Where I live, pest control and animal stock protection is just a way of life as well as hunting being a family activity and tradition for generations.

I patrol my property almost daily and the 15-22 has made a significant dent in my local varmint population. Since Phil has given me the green light......

Dang Cajun, those rabbits (jackrabbits?) are BIG! Wish they got that big around here, we just got wild hares and while not real small, don't get quite that big. Sure are yummy though! Nice pics! Looks like you got a quite a job on your property!

This guy has had his pic on here before, but unfortunately, I don't take pics of all my kills. This was one of six raccoons that fell to the mighty 15-22 this fall and late summer. It also took out four skunks, and five possums. And a couple of unwanted tom cats. A tactical light and laser make low light shooting in the evening and early mornings real easy.

Looks like a mixed bag. Majority looks like coyotes...orange ones got to be foxes.
Looks like he onto something about his insulation problem...a few more to go then he finished.
Extreme home make-over...redneck style.

I agree with you man and tried to explain the value of non-venomous snakes in keeping down the rat population to my girls, but after several were found inside the house I lost that arguement.
House rule now is that the only good snake is a dead snake.

Now that you have the 15-22, it sounds like you are hoping the coons will show up.

I actually don't mind raccoons as long as they stay away. But when they become a nuiscance they give me no choice.
We have small pets and chickens to protect and we're tired of losing them to predators. Our last encounter was the neighbors dog. It broke out of it's ELECTRIFIED pen when the power was out (these aren't even pets, he just keeps them caged up and uses them for hunting once every other year, if that, the rest of the time they are caged and just bark and bark). Well one got out and caught one of our chickens.
That chicken took about five weeks to mend (we actually consider them pets even though we have them for eggs, my boy and his cousin really love them and are devistated when we lose one whether it be to dog, coyote, weasel, coon, bobcat, cougar, etc). During that mending period it was twice daily cleanings and medication to the fairly severe wounds and staying in a big cardboard box under a heat lamp among other things. She's lucky she can walk, albeit with a limp.
The neighbor knows that they are out of free passes as it's not the first time.
Dog goes bye bye next time.
I won't post that pic, don't worry.

I have almost the same story with our chickens. Came home one day to a bloody massacre . The dog from a few miles down the road killed 5 or 6 of them and injured 2 more that we had to put down. The chickens are also our pets. I couldn't kill someone elses pet so we had animal control take the dog back to the owners. They ended up paying us $100 per chicken that was killed.

I have a fox running around that's gonna get a bullet as soon as it comes close enough. Don't want to risk it getting rabies and attacking my dog.

IDK, 30 yards or so. i don't take pics of all my kills except bigger preds for contests, but the antelope jacks in AZ are huge and i've seen a subsonic through my can bounce off a jack at about 75 yards. broke it's ribs and it died due to blunt trauma to the heart i suppose, but it did not puncture the skin.
the backstraps and rear legs are really good on jacks, just inspect the liver for spots. And ALWAYS use gloves on anything you clean! I got tuleremia (rabbit fever) when i was a kid and had 105 temp...not fun!!

It does look weird! Lol. Well it was supporting the weight of the gun, and way back at the stock!... on my thumb so it bent it back pretty bad. It looks as though I was resting the gun on the ground but I wasn't

Ah I see. Makes sense now.
Thanks for not taking that the wrong way. Realised when I re read it that it could have come across the wrong way.

how far away was that dog? i wouldn't even consider a .22 for a yote, 17 fireball is the minimum and i usually use 5.56/#4 3" buck. Have taken more with the dead coyote choked mossy than the rifle. i would have to be pretty close, and actually have a .22 with me to attempt a shot at a dog and that's all i hunt is predators.

At 50 yds or less .22lr is a surprisingly efficient killer on larger game if you can hit what you are aiming at. I have lost count of the deer I have humanely eliminated (destruction permit) with the round with the added benefit of disturbing the neighbors a lot less in the middle of the night than a .223.

I leave the non-venomous snakes on my property - they help me to get rid of a lot of the vermin I'm concerned about, such as rabbits and squirrels. King snakes are particularly welcome on my ranch - they take out the rattlers!

The dog was ~60yrds. On the run. It took him down easily, no issue at all. I've shot them closer as well. Perfect for coyote as long as you get a good ethical shot.

you must be a hella shot! and that's not being sarcastic. coyotes here in AZ can be in Mexico in about 2 seconds! they are fast! albeit that they are a lot smaller here around sea level desert. we can hunt within city limits legally since the law has changed, but i keep to the desert. i'm pretty quiet also:
One Mangy dog!!
