Wow, interesting...this is a target I shot about a week ago, 25 yards, standing, foward grip used, no support, Magpul MBus fip up sights...Federal lead nose (no plating) bulk ammo from the CMP program (cheap, cheap ammo).....

Strange that yours is so spread out...

Let it not be said that the M&P is not accurate... Great grouping, the two flyers are just to let others know not to juke when shot at.. LOL...

i do believe they are slightly different, but bulk mini mags is a good description for them.

Ilike the "AR Tactical" ammo. It appears that CCI changed the bullet profile and possibly the lube. My 15/22 and M&P22 eat the stuff like candy. Unfortunately, at $.06/Rd I'll stick with Federal Champion for $16 per 525Rd bulk pack.

The CCI load is accurate.

We can't seem to easily get the CCI-Tactical here in MD. However Winchester recently came out with a competitor to the CCI ammo called M-22 (to differenciate if from their T-22). Has a black copper coating (according to Winchester) and looks very similar to CCI-Tactical or Fed AutoMatch. Comes in a 1000 round box made up of 2-500 round inner bulk boxes for $44.95 at Walmart. 40G at 1255 FPS, slightly more than Mini-Mags. I have been using it in practice and I think I will try some this weekend in our club Speed Steel match (going to shoot it in my race Buckmark also).

Well found a place that has them, (or had) them. Out of stock until Jan. 2012. Canyon in Martinez Calif. sells the CCI Tactical 22LR. Everyplace else has just the CCi Blazer bulk. I would order them on line at Cheaper than Dirt but the cost of mailing them is almost the price of a box of CCI Tactical 375 count. So I will wait until Jan. to buy them local.

I read about the advantage of the CCI Tactical 22LR they cut the powder down so it is 1200 vs 1235, like the CCI Blazers. They said it helped ejection issues from spinning case while the ejection process. Also they made the nose a tad slimmer to help with feed issues for the M&P semi-auto.. Hats off to CCI for addressing these issues, that I didn't know existed..

I have some Winchester 333 jacketed 22LR but I find the bullet is loose on the case of 95% of the whole lot, you can spin the bullet within the case of each and every bullet. I notices the CCI are tight, this could be the issue on accurate placement and wild flyers. I wish I had some CCI Tactical 22's to see if they are tight.

This is CCI AR Tactical @ 25 yards.
21 of 25 rounds made the same hole.

Found some at "Tabor's" in San Bruno Calif. but I bought 3 375 boxes of 5. They said they are selling them out so fast. Bringing them home, I compared them to the Winchester 333 ammo I shot. I found the CCI Tactical to be better manufactured. Each bullet is tightly sealed to the brass case. Winchester's bullets spin and wobble in the case, I think I know why I'm getting groups that are varied in spacing with the Winchester. The CCI Bulk lead are also tight with the casing and their groups are tight. This CCI tactical looks to be a winner, I can't wait to go to the range in the next few days to test these out.

I spent $24 per box of 375, a little high but I think worth it. Can't wait, I'll update as soon as I test them... Happy Holiday to all M&P forum members.

Back on the range, CCI Tactical, Zero malfunctions, Zero problems, worked like a champ, great grouping, no flyers. Bullet has a very light wax coating for good feed in the mags. Overall, this is the bullet for MY M&P 15/22... Bonus, not to dirty either, only ran 450 rounds, bolt was still silver with a very light haze of power residue.

Went back to Tabor's, purchased 3 more boxes, stocking up for the Zombie invasion on 12/21/2012..(Yea, right)..

The owner, said, "Oh, you again, you already finished that last 3 boxes", I said, no just one box, but I'm stocking up.. It's catching on...

I wonder how different the "tactical" is from the Blazer. I find CCI blazer to me some of the most accurate plinking ammo. It has the same "lube" on the bullets others have suggested. Maybe I'll have to pick up some of the tactical and compare accuracy with the Blazer. The blazer can be found for $20 for 500 rounds, or 4 cents a shot. I prefer it to federal or winchester.

Default CCI blazer

I know this is a S&W forum... just bought a m&p 15-22 and was wondering if the blazer I feed it will work well with my walther p22 also... probably should go to a walther forum, but figured I would ask here as alot of .22lr people also have experience with the p22. Want to stock up on some ammo but don't want to have to differentiate between two two types for two weapons...

thanks.

Bhbrew, most likely yes. But as with any firearm results may vary. Just give it a try, you won't hurt anything.

Default thanks

Thank you. Will do. Bought a couple cases of RGBs for the Walther and CCI Blazer for the 15-22... RGBs are on the do not use list with the flyer that came with my s&w... a friend told me that the blazers wouldn't feed correctly in his p22 so I will just buy a couple small packs of other .22lr and give it a try.

thanks again.

Nope, but so far I've only fired one 375 round carton. I did find the AR Tactical to be accurate in the 15/22 and cycle consistently. It is also cleaner than much of the lower priced ammo on the market. There was a day when other manufacturers plinking/small game ammo was as good as CCI. Now most of the stuff I have tried recently isn't even close.

I just received an order of 3750 rounds of AR Tactical. As a rimfire aficionado, I am planning to have some low cost, low noise fun with it.

I just ran 2 boxes today. Oddly I had about 6 in the 1st box that wouldn't fire even after multiple tries. And 4 on the 2nd box that did the same.

They all fed fine, just a few that wouldn't go bang. That being said, mini mags I have not had any that wouldn't go off even if it was a try again.

They shot fine, just a few duds.

But then every rifle acts different.

Default Not again

Maybe I am just to picky but again I can't find CCI mini-mag 22rimfire ammo anywhere. Cabela's, Basspro, Gander Mountian, Ammo 2 go, LGS all seem to be out of stock again. Seems to be plenty of all other caliber ammo out there but not any CCI .22 rimfire ammo. Now I have plenty of mags for my S&W 15-22 but nothing I want to shoot to put in them.

I'll shoot about anything through mine at the range. But, it's CCIs for the squirrels. They seem to fly a little truer in my rifle.

I really like the tactical and was buying a box every time I went to the LGS. I have about 10 boxes on the shelf, been shooting them, not hoarding. But the Minimags at our Walmart are cheaper.

Wrong guess.

I just prefer to shoot the ammo that works best for me in my rifle.

And if you can't get "what's best" you don't go shooting at all?

I prefer a particular ammo, too. But if I couldn't get it, I would gladly shoot what I can get my hands on.

FWIW, that's why I buy whole cases at a time, not boxes. I don't let my .22 supply get below 10k - at least not for very long.

I just got two boxes of CCI AR Tactical. Since I have plenty of empty CCI Minimags boxes I spent 20 minutes boxing them. I can't complain about accuracy, but I had one failure to feed, on the last round in the magazine, the rim was stuck inside of the magazine, the round was almost vertical and the bolt pretty much squished the bullet against the feeding ramp. I think it may be because of excessive wax on the rounds. There is definitely more wax on CCI AR Tactical than CCI Minimags. And it was pretty cold so the wax was hardened.
I have M&P 15-22 Performance Center which is probably little more picky about feeding because of the tighter chamber.
I have occasional FTFs with Minimags as well, so I'd say AR Tactical are quite good. The shape of the bullet is slightly different from Minimags, so they are definitely not "bulk Minimags".
Oh, and the prices were $26 or so for a box of CCI AR Tactical and $9 for a box of CCI Minimags (SF Bay Area).
