Default Bad Range Day :(

So I took my new PA red dot to the range today to sight it in. For the first time I bought Winchester 555 ammo just cuz they were out of federal bulk (which I usually shoot). Within the first magazine I was having FTE's. This was the first time my gun had ever had winchester 555. The FTE's continued through the whole day at the range. I probably went through about 300 rounds of it before I called it quits. So tomorrow I'm going to buy a new box of Federal Bulk and PRAY that its the ammo and not the gun. So far, until today, my gun has functioned flawlessly off of CCI mini mags and federal bulk. As I said I'm praying my baby is ok and its just winchester sucking. I'll let ya know how it goes.

A bad day at the range is still better than a good day at work.

Check to see if your ejector hook is gunked up. I have almost 100% reliability with that ammo. After around 6k of it down range the only problem I've had is the occasional round (anout 2 outa 500) where the primer doesn't go off.

But, it is totally possible ur rifle just simply doesn't like the Winchester stuff!

FTE? Failure to "E" is non-descriptive.

Extract? Eject?

Failure to extract is unlikely in a blowback design but "stuff happens."

Unless the ejector is wildly out of place a dirty extractor is the suspect.

GRIFFY, I have had the same problems non stop with Federal and Winchester, thus far winchester being the worst, I thought something was wrong with my gun as well, however as long as I feed CCI I have 100% reliability. In my Case it was failure to ejects.(Gun was spotless) Kind of sucks it doesn't like firing Cheap Bulk Ammo from walmart, however compared to other calipers 6.50 for a box of 100 rounds its hard to complain about.

Sorry for the confusion. I'm having failures to extract from the chamber. The gun was clean when I went to the range so I don't see how the extractor hook could be jammed with stuff but I cleaned it today anyway. I'm buying a box of federal today and I have some cci's to try and see if its the gun or just the ammo. I'm goin in a few hours I'll let ya know. Thanks for all the input .

replace your springs with the j&p trigger kit and it should fix this(your exjector may need some fine adjusting)

put a spent case in the chamber and roll the rifle upside down take a light so you can see the extractor well and see what its doing

if when you ease the blot down it slips over the rim and seat in place then you know the extractor is good

if when you pull back on the bolt it slips back around it then the sping needs to be stretched or the chamber is way to dirty

Thanks for the suggestion belt fed. I ran about 300 rounds of federal champion ammo today (blue box 525 rounds per box). It went through that without a flaw. I then put about 100 rounds of the winchester again and it was doing the same thing, not extracting the round for the chamber. Except today I was also getting stove pipes with it. At this point I'm gonna go with that its the ammo rather than the gun because it cycled the federal fine.

I have been getting a nasty stove pipe in my MOE with Winchester bulk. Bolt slams the cartridge into the front slot on the magazine and its hung at 12 o clock. Must be pried out.
I shot 375 flawless rounds will CCI LRN last weekend and it functioned great except it fouled the barrel bad. No more Winchester bulk or LRN for me. I will try Federal next.
