Received my Shoowrench yesterday and checked the tightness of the barrel nut. Just fine and I saw no reason to remove the barrel at this time.

I got to thinking about the PC 15-22 coming out next month. What if I could just buy a PC barrel to put on my MOE? I called my S&W dealer and they are going to get an answer for me. The one question that comes to mind is this: Will the PC barrel work in my "stock" 15-22 if I can get one?

I'll let you know what I find out about availibility.

"According" to S&W the 15 22 ALREADY has a match grade precision barrel. This has been disputed, some people on this site, but as I say S&W lists it as such. Its # 10 on the list Here is the link to the info.

M&P15-22<br>.22 LR - Smith & Wesson

M&P15-22
The M&P15 rifle line has expanded to now include the new M&P15-22. Chambered in .22LR, the M&P15-22 rifle is built with high strength polymer upper and lower receivers. This creates a reduced weight rifle that retains the looks and operating features of the standard M&P rifle.

1. 6 Position Collapsible Stock
2. Functioning Charging Handle
3. Adjustable Rear and Front Sights
4. Two-Position Receiver Mounted Safety Selector

8. High Strength Polymer Magazine
9. Light Weight, High Strength Polymer Quad Rail Handguard
10. Match Grade Precision Barrel

RE: match barrel

Right you are. However, the upcoming release of the Performance Center Match 15-22 has a tighter chamber. It's refered to as a "Laney Match" chamber. Also, it's a fluted barrel IIRC.It also will not chamber "Stingers" as the chamber is a bit shorter than the stock one. And it has a 2 stage match trigger.

I'm curious if this will be useable on my stock MOE or if it's got different machining involved.

The reason I'm asking is that why buy the Match gun at $769 M.S.R.P.(we'll be able to get it for less, but how much less remains to be seen)when I could possibly up-grade a bit for quite a bit less.

This is a work in progress as there may be other issues that I'm not experienced with, that will preclude using the Match barrel.

It might just turn out that I'll have to break down and buy one of those also. I already own the pistol version.:)

Regardless, I'm very happy with my first black guns and look forward to making little piles of brass.
