J&P Trigger Springs
When installing the J&P spring kit in the 15-22, is it neccessry to replace all 3 springs or just the trigger spring?
Thanks
Pat

Replacing them is a breeze but I thought everyone was only replacing the trigger spring. So I'm assuming it's a preference thing; correct?

I'm curious why you'd buy a spring "set" and not put all of them in? I have both the pistol and rifle and have replaced all of the FCG springs on both guns. I now have a pretty good trigger in both. BTW, follow J-P's recomendation about sear lube and polish the sear area with a little bit of Flitz.

I agree wih Hobie1. If you are going to have the fire control group apart anyway, which is very easy to do, why not replace all three springs and do a little polishing of the sear surfaces. I seem to recall there is some relationship between the trigger spring and the disconnector spring so if you change one you shoul change both.

I just replaced all springs but did not screw with polishing the sear points. This is not a case where more polish is better and you can easily ruin the sear as it's only surface hardened.
Use a slave pin (cut a hammer spring in half and share the other half with your buddy) to reassemble the trigger:

Polishing the sear
I agree with you about messing with the sear but Flitz is an extremely light compound and it just took the grittiness away. You do need to make sure you remove all of it when done. If, down the road I run into problems with the trigger prematurely wearing out, I'll let people know. For now, the trigger is much better than before.
Regards,
Hobie

Thanks to everyone fr your input. I did end up changing ALL the springs. Won't be going to the range until next week (that is if the weather gets warmer)

Could someone post up pics of exactly what part to polish and maybe some before and after pics? I can't see videos on trigger jobs as I'm on dial-up.

Waiting on new trigger/hammer springs
Just ordered the springs yesterday from Midway. I did the "fifteen minute" trigger job to the exact specs and have at least four to six FTFs per mag since and the bullets were staggered as instructed and was using CCI mini mags and Federal bulk and they both were having the same issues. I had no problems except the hard trigger pull before and have a DVE serial number and the blue springs. Hope the J&P springs resolve the issue. Must be light hits on the inert firing pin now from what I have read here.

I've got the J-P springs in both my guns and haven't experienced any abnormal FTfire with all the different ammo I've tried so far. Let us know how they work for you. I did use a 60%moly on the sear area and things are going well.
