If you want something cheap to use till something better comes along get one of these loaders. At least every round goes in correctly with none out of sequence.

The modified hand loading is pretty fast and easy on the fingers.

i've tried the black dog E-Z loader on the S&W 15 22 magazines and they kindda work, and kindda don't work. because the S&W magazine is not a "full profile" at the top like the black dogs (which are shaped more similar to true AR magazines), the loader tends to rock around and shift so that the loading peg which depresses the top round in the mag can be misaligned. i just use the standard loading assist button with just enough clearance to offer light resistance when inserting the top round.

I originally got mine to modify to use on my Rem 597. The trick to using on the 15-22 mags is to slip it over the top of the mag first. Then wrap your hand around the mag and put your thumb and one other finger on top of the lip around the bottom edge of the magloader. Then just pull down slightly on the edges with your thumb and other finger to depress the follower, then slide a round into the top and release. You can get a rhythm going pretty easy if you try. I can do a mag a minute if I do not drop a round or so in the process.

I do that with just using my thumb and forefinger on the follower button.

I think that an autoloader for 15-22 mags is a solution without a problem. I don't have very strong hands, yet loading the mags is quick and easy. However, I love the speed loaders for my pistol mags which have stronger springs and tiny buttons.

Also agree. While I shot for years with my Browning Medalist & Hi-Standard Trophy .22's, and 1911 .45 without any problem loading mags, when I got my M&P 9C, I couldn't believe how strong the spring was, and REALLY appreciate a speed loader for it. The 15-22's mag buttons are large, on both sides, and the spring's not strong, so it's easy to load.

Now, if it were possible to pull the spring down and simply /dump/ the rounds in all at once, like some .22 loaders work, then that would be WELL worth the money. As it is, having to make sure each round is placed correctly, it really doesn't matter how the spring is compressed for that additional 1/4".

Yeah but then you have to check the stagger sometimes. I also came up with a way to load them 1 at a time with the assist buttons and get only an occasional mis-stagger. But using the BDM or Christie's loader I don't have to bother checking. I also have arthritis in both hands, too, which is a real issue for a competition shooter.

I put them in one at a time and have no problem with the stagger. I haven't had a failure to feed in 4k plus. I have the same condition in my hands, too.
