Got my new 15-22 today!!!

Picked up a 15-22 today and had hoped to go straight to range to check it out. Unfortunately the range was closed for Lincolns birthday. I'm dying over here. I can't wait til tomorrow.

I couldn't resist messing with it already. I had a red/green dot Tru Glo sight and replaced the iron sights with that. Picked up a second mag with it. Probably be getting more since New York limits mags to 10 rounds. I'd love to be able to use one of those Blackdog 50 round drums.

Once it warms up and we start going to the outdoor ranges I plan on getting a scope. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Hope to find something good for shooting targets at 100yards. Bipod would probably be useful for that as well, any suggestions.

Hope to go through a couple hundred rounds of Federal ammo tomorrow. I'll let you all know how it works out.

I took mine to the range today put 300 rounds threw it.

Wish i could give you some ideas on scopes but i m a short range shooter. I use a sightmark reflex site with x3 mag.

Well we got to the range today and I was able to break in the new 15-22. Awesome fun. Went thru over 300 rounds. Not one FTF. I followed the instructions and cleaned and lubed the gun before first use and used some good Federal ammo.
I had replaced the stock sights with a TruGlo Red/Green Dot that I took off my Mossberg 590. Within three 10 round mags I had it pretty much dialed in. Two more mags later and it was really good at 25 yards(its a 30 yard range). After that it was like shooting fish in a barrel.

One issue though. In the beginning and occasionally throughout the session the trigger would return real slow to the forward position. If I left my finger on it after firing it was slowing it down. I had to move my finger forward off the trigger for it to return. I wasn't really holding the trigger in, I was just keeping my finger on it. That little bit of pressure was enough to slow and almost stop the trigger.

Anyone else experience this?

About the scope, no red dots for anything close to what you might be wanting to shoot. On a .22 it's just really how much you want to spend...

I'd suggest a 3-9x or something around there...variable power is nice to have. You get what you pay for though. IMO you have a lot of sub $150 choices and then you start moving into the quaility stuff.

About the trigger, it could be your form or it could be you have had a lot of experience with other firearms before? Your trigger finger must release pressure after each shot for the trigger to reset but i can't comment on the stock 15-22 trigger cuz i switched mine out for a Timney awhile ago. Trigger upgrade is a great idea whether it's just a spring or whole new package.
