Default First day at the range

Oh man just got back from the range and I am in love. I am new to firearms and got my first gun Glock about a month ago, a couple days ago I picked up the M&P1522 to get some trigger time with some cheaper ammo. Cleaned it today, first time cleaning a gun and I am not confident I did a very good job but ran to the range and only had time for 2 magazines but it was a blast and no problems. Shot one magazine of CCI Blazer I picked up from Farm & Fleet for $17.50/500ct and one magazine of Federal Champion no problems with either. Can't wait to get a day off to shoot some more thank god the ammo is cheap cause I plan to put a LOT of rounds through this thing.

I like the Blazer ammo, but get 'yellow waxy buildup', if you are old enough for the reference. The wax coating from the bullets tends to build up on the bolt face and breech of the barrel. Just make sure to clean well, and scrape the wax off every couple hundred rounds.

Welcome aboard! I think I ran into your thread over in another forum?

I'm sure you'll enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine. There's nothing as fun as firing inexpensive .22lr out of an AR pattern rifle.

Don't worry about it. I'm a bit OCD about cleaning my firearms. I'll push brushes, patches, & detail clean when I can. When I don't have the time:
1. Put CLP on Boresnake & pull through barrel three times. Cleans & lubes in one step.

2. Pull out BCG & wipe it down with a rag moistened with CLP. Cleans & lubes in one step.

3. Wipe out upper receiver with a rag mistened with CLP, being careful not to bend/hit the ejector.

4. Quick wipe down of the exterior.
Takes me about 5 - 10 min. Easy peasy.

Well, I clean mine after every range trip. It usually takes me about an hour, but I enjoy every minute! Thoroughly clean and lube, check springs, action, etc., etc.

Why? (you say)? This way I know EXACTLY the condition my rifle is in for the next time I go shooting! Nuts? Probably...

So shoot a lot and enjoy that new firearm!
