Default My first M&P 15-22

So its almost official I just bought my first 15-22 now I just have to wait 10 days to get her out of jail. So for all you experieced 15-22 owners can you give me any hints or advice on how to keep her running smooth? Also since I have 10 days to wait are there any must have accessories for it? I want to make it tacti-cool very "Call of Duty Black Ops" if u will haha. Its going to be a fun gun for me and my little ones to shoot so I want to make it fun and appealing to them. So again if anyone has any good ideas on scopes (magnified), lights, vg's, stock, etc please comment. Thanks guys

A reddot is a must. I stuck a centerpoint (walmart) reddot on mine and it has been perfect for very little money. If you want a magnified scope, I have also been happy with the 30mm scope from walmart as well. Remeber though, if you get the 30mm scope you need a different mount for it. The 40mm will stick right on there with no problem, but I do not like it as much as the 30mm.

Even so, I prefer the reddot on the M&P15-22. For the young ones it is perfect. Put the dot on what you want to hit and pull the trigger. My 6 year old and 11 year old love it.

Ya I know right. If you already own firearms "which I do" the 10 day cool down period shouldnt apply.

Mike, yea sadly im in Santa barbara the nearest walmart is almost an hour away but we will see. I must admit though from what I hear I may like this rifle more then the little ones haha. Ive already bought some magpul pop up sights and some rail covers. The 15-22 will fit all AR-15 style accessories right?

Ah, welcome to the place that helps your wallet remain empty. I have a MOE (different sights, stock, grip and I think a thing for a sling-technical jargon, haha). I've added an NcStar Ultimate sight setup
The Ultimate Sighting System
It's a nice setup for the money and can be had cheaper by searching the internet; although dealing with Rrages is always a pleasure and he takes care of his customers like no other.

I've also added a Magpul AFG 1 which is wicked cool. It's so comfortable and really adds control in quick aquisition, tactical type situations.....and it just looks so damn sexy on there.
AFG - Angled Fore Grip - AFG1 - Angled Fore Grip

There are lots of ammos that will work for this rifle and some that don't and there are threads galore to give ya all that info. Personally, I shoot CCI's. They cost a little more than Federals (only a little if you search around and find the right deal, however the real good deal right now at Gander Mountain is sold out of both types of Mini Mags). Mini Mags (both the 40 grain round nose and 36 grain Hollow Points) are excellent rounds that are VERY consistent and clean shooting. CCI Blazers are great too, but I don't like that they're not copper plated rounds and if you plan on shooting indoors, it's not really the healthiest of things to breathe. But then again, ask anyone, I'm just the local CCI whore (I don't work for them, just been a believer in them for years).

Wow, blah blah blah, verbal diarrhea of the keyboard happenin here.

All that just to say, welcome aboard...hehe.

I've seen both the 36gr Hollow Point Mini Mags and the 40gr Round Nose Mini Mags do better than the other in seperate tests with different rifles....lol.....either way they group better than bulk ammo....unless it's CCI's tactical bulk ammo (which is also 36gr, but solid nose). It all runs real nice and groups tightly.
